What are the Ice Age creators up to?
 

I was just searching the net trying to find out what the creators of Ice Age are currently working on but haven't found anything yet. Anyone know or have a link to share?

But they had to create that catagory because they were afraid an animated feature may eventually win a Best Picture Oscar... :p

Ice Age & Treasure Planet just got thrown in to round out the group.

My God you're right! It must be good.

Maybe I should clarify a little bit. I'm reffering to the animation studio. Not the producers/directors.

Blue Sky Studio is located somewhere near me. But I haven't asked them what they're up to...and frankly, I don't give a damn.

I must concur that Ice Age was pretty much a stinker.

At least the thread craps are acknowledged ahead of time, no?

A lot of people thought Antz was a stinker as well but I believe that animation studio went on to do Shrek which was excellent. I know the Ice Age people are supposedly working on something described as a "futuristic fantasy" but that's all I've been able to find out. Given the quality of the GRAPHICS (lighting in particular) in Ice Age, I'm looking forward to seeing how they've progressed.

I'm a character animator who worked on ICE AGE at Blue Sky Studios, but am now at Dreamworks working on SHREK 2.

When I left Blue Sky, they were preparing to work on ROBOTS, their 2nd CG feature. This might sound biased, but the designs and test animation were pretty darn cool. I'm really looking forward to it.

To me the quality of the animation doesn't matter (although Ice Age was definately poor). What's most important is great story and Antz, Shrek, and Ice Age didn't have one.

Nice to hear jeffkjoe. I enjoyed the animation and story on Ice Age quite a bit.

I'm glad to hear a second movie is coming soon. I personally enjoyed Ice Age very much, story and animation. It's one of my daughter's favorites too and we watch it over and over.

I didn't think the story of Ice Age was that bad. It's been awhile since I've seen it, but the I think the only thing I didn't like was the character that I'm not certain as it's been awhile. But otherwise it had some fairly amusing moments.

But that doesn't change the fact that Antz was pretty dumb.

Personally Ice Age didn't look interesting from a story standpoint, and I really hate Ray Romano. What I saw of the actual animation looked fine. Not exactly Pixar, but fine.

I thought PDI the people who brought you Antz were looking at acquiring most of the Blue Sky People. I thought the company was in financial upset also am I wrong Jeff?

There was some downsizing after ICE AGE, but Blue Sky is doing fine now. They've been re-hiring a good numbe rof people for the 2nd movie, in fact.

Only a few people, not a lot, went on to PDI, PIXAR, ILM, etc.

Thanks Jason. I was slightly interested in seeing Ice Age. Now that I know Ray Romano is in it I am going to go out of my way to make sure nobody I know watches it.
