Little Moments (scenes) that stand out in a film

The scene that inspired this thread at all was from the film Billy Madison, where Adam Sandler's character is calling all the people he tormented back when he was going to school. He's talking to Steve Bushemi, and once they hang up, Bushemi is applying lipstick to his lips with Telephone Line by ELO playing in the background.

Best scene in the whole film.

There's this scene in the relatively, unknown Equinox where Matthew Modine (who plays twins) beats up his neighbor's abusive spouse.

How does he do it?

Since he's such a wimp, the only way for him to show some aggression is by imitating a wrestler that he frequently watches on his TV!

"CLOTHESLINE"!!!!

Boiler Room: Giovanni Ribisi [sp?] gets a call from some guy who wants to sell him a newspaper subscription, then tells the salesman what he's doing wrong. Best scene IMO in a pretty decent little flick.

1st: Jim Carey's facial expression as he urinates into a beer bottle in Dumb and Dumber. Laugh out loud funny every time I see it.

2nd: The bench collapsing under Chris Farley towards the end of Tommy Boy: "Coulda done without that". Priceless.

I also agree with the scene from Billy Madison, still my favorite Sandler movie as well.

Also from Billy Madison - the "one of the most insanely idiotic things I've ever heard" speech. Quotable in the extreme, baby!

This is a great topic, but I'm kinda drawing a blank for some reason. The only other thing I can come up with now is the "Whaddaya mean I'm 'funny'?" segment in Goodfellas.

The scene is in the Wild Bunch, at the end when the bunch have gone to get Angel, right after they shoot Mapache, and this regiment of Mexican soldiers are all around them, some of them halfway to raising their hands to surrender to the four gringos who are hopelessly outnumbered. And one of the bunch laughs in amazed amusement, I don't remember if it's Warren Oates' or Earnest Borgenine's character. That's one of the greatest small moments in the history of cinema.

Penny Lane: I've made a decision, I'm gonna live in Morocco for one year. I need a new crowd. Do you wanna come?
William Miller: Yes! Yeah.
Penny Lane: Are you sure?
William Miller: Ask me again.

William Miller: Yes! Yes.

I just watched Catch Me if You Can, and this little moment is what stands out to me:

"Knock Knock"
"Who's there?"
"Go f*** yourself."

Tombstone
When Doc Holliday (Val Kilmer) is dying in bed, and Wyatt Earp (Kurt Russell) is standing over him, and Doc says, "If you're my friend, you'll leave."

Runaway Train
When the character played by Jon Voight is trying to explain the facts of life to the character played by Eric Roberts - about having a job where you clean toilets, and you hold onto that job like it was gold, because it is gold!

When little Susan ran after his father, begging him not to leave. Always catch me in tears seeing this scene.

"Can't Take My Eyes of You"

Pretty Woman
When Edward tricked Vivian with the jewellery box. Her laugh was for real.

The initial sweeping, aerial shot of the prison in Shawshank.
It fit the mood of the movie and gave the audience a perspective of the prison that contrasted with the later scenes inside the prison.

Drama: The "Pooh" speech in Beautiful Girls. And its hard to top the speech Mel Gibson gives before the big battle in Braveheart.

For comedy: I've always laughed extremely hard at things that I'd love to do iin real life but dont' have the guts. So i'm going with the scene from Plains Trains and Automobiles when Steve Martin is yelling at the lady at the car rental place.

Close runner up: One of the greatest lines of all time in a movie. Risky Business - "Sometimes you just gotta say 'What the f**K'"

One scene that sticks in my mind is the close-up shot of the cat in Alien.

Another favorite is from The Untouchables where Kevin Costner and Andy Garcia are in the train station, the 'bookkeeper' is being held hostage and Costner says 'You got him' and Garcia says 'Yeah, I got him'.

There are bunch in this movie, but three of my favorites from Clue are:

When Micheal McKean can't find a place to sit, he ends up back in the corner perched on a table. About 5 minutes later that table collapses. Priceless.

And Tim Curry, lost in the house in the dark, thinks he is turning a doorknob, only to find that he is in the shower. The speed the water comes on totally makes this scene.

In one of the endings, they sing "For He's a Jolly Good Fellow" and Madeline Khan sings a hilarious harmony to the song.

God I love that movie.

You Can't Take It With You when, at the end, they're all singing Polly-Wolly-Doodle.

It's A Wonderful Life when, at the end, they're all singing Old Lang Syne. Then, when the bell on the Christmas tree jingles, the daughter says to James Stewart's George Bailey: "Teacher says everytime a bell rings, an angel gets his wings." Chokes me up every time.

The scene near the end of We Were Soldiers where Joseph Galloway is at the typewriter struggling to hold back the tears while trying to find the words to describe the horrors he just witnessed.

The scene in Aliens where Ripley is firing the pulse rifle at oncoming aliens; the look on her face is priceless.

Three scenes from two movies that I don't particularly like otherwise:

The Tom Hanks/Robert Loggia "Chopsticks" scene in Big
The airplane graveyard scene and the African anteater ritual scene from Can't Buy Me Love.

For me it's in Ferris Bueller. The parade sequence is a moment i wish i could pull off myself. Every time i watch i crank up the sound. That for me that is the most memorable moment ever, 'cause you think for sure that he's busted but he's not!!
