New zombie movie

What's the name of the new zombie movie?

BTW- I mean the genre, not the horror film by Rob Zombie.

There's a few in development or soon to be released. Are you thinking of one of these?

28 Days Later
House of the Dead
Dawn of the Dead
Resident Evil: Nemesis

28 Days Later is a very good film, but if you're looking for it to be a zombie film, you'll be disappointed. It's more of a play on the crumbling of society we experience every day, coupled with some post-apocalyptic stuff.

Looks like nothing more than a remake of The Omega Man to these eyes...

28 Days Later was slightly enjoyable, not something I need to see again. Like most films hyped here *cough*Audition*cough*, highly overrated.

Saw it the other night, and it's actually nothing like the Omega Man. I was thinking it would be too. It's closer aligned to some odd 12 Monkey/Dawn of the Dead combo.

It's a very good movie, hardly over hyped. It's got quite the big plot hole though.

I"m working on a Zombie script now. What do you guys like or dislike about Zombie movies and what would you like to see in them that hasn't been done?

I don't like sorry attempts at comedy in Zombie flicks.

I like them serious and hardcore. If the ever get to around to making "DEADWORLD" and they stick to the comic you'll see a HARDCORE Zombie flick. George Clooney bought the rights to DEADWORLD but he has yet to do anything...

28 Days Later is a decent horror film that I really liked. I recently traded a copy of the UK R2 (PAL) version for a copy of Evil Dead Trap...what do you think?

Well, to me 28DL did seem to be influenced, at least in part, by Richard Matheson's "I Am Legend", the loose basis for TOM. However, the films are very dissimilar.

I hate it when other people are writing Zombie flicks when the one I've written is BETTER, DAMMIT!

Why ask us questions? You're the writer...

Being a bit dismissive of Boyle and Garland... I don't particularly like that description, which I think has more to do with truth-bending marketing than any claims made by Boyle or Garland.

I"m asking questions because I'm the writer. I have some definite ideas, but some are a bit out there so I want to see what the world is ready for in Zombie Cinema.

And sincere good luck with your script. I've found writing a Zombie movie is like being mayor of Newark. You're the prince of poop.

I like to seee in a zombie movie, other animals than humans being undead. That's what made RE the game so great; zombie dogs, spiders, ect. I guess one can get out of hand.
I also like to see zombie's smarter than us, like on a primitive level. Throw a twist out at us.

The Nature Boy, if you can, please tell us what the origin of the zombie-fication is (voodoo, alien virus, experimental government program, etc.). I think that would help with "do or do not" tips.

From Here...watch out for COMET

toxic zombies
Brought back by radiation or chemicals; usually flesh-eating
This is by far the most common type of zombie portrayed in films. Quite often the government has something to do with the 'birth' of these. Watch out for Army trucks with barrels on the back going through your town!
Movie examples: Night of the Living Dead series, Re-Animator, Redneck Zombies

demon zombies
Re-animated by demon, devil or other evil spirit
Movie examples: Evil Dead trilogy

voodoo/black magick zombies
Brought back by a houngan or bokor (a voodoo master)
Movie examples: White Zombie

diseased zombies
Vague type spread by infection, such as by the bite of the Sumatran rat monkey
Movie & Game examples: Dead Alive, Wes Craven Presents Mind Ripper, Resident Evil series

unsettled zombies
Return because of some unfinished business of some sort, usually revenge or love
Movie examples: My Boyfriend's Back, Creepshow's water zombies, Uncle Sam

alien zombies
Brought back by aliens; usually to serve them as an aid in taking over the Earth
Movie examples: Alien Dead

techno zombies
Re-animated by technology; implanting a computer chip in the brain, etc.
Movie examples: Deadly Friend

electric zombies
Brought back by a shock from electricity of some sort
Movie examples: Dead Heat

I can't be the only one who sincerely thought this was a Sandra Bullock sequal.

I might have to check this one out now.

Really? Wow, I must have been grossly misinformed about Sandra Bullock movies.

I've written something like that.

At the end of my Zombie script, a horde of zombies have to face off against the National Guard.

There's a prison riot in it too, if you feel like throwing some financing my way...
