Everyone is entitled to their own opinions that when a remake is bad.
Not all of them are bad. Good remakes IMO: -Vanilla Sky (remake of Abres Los Ojos) -Insomnia (remake of a foreign film) -The Ring (remake of Japanese flick "Ringu") -Oceans 11 (remake of the Dean Martin and Frank Sinatra musical) -The Time Machine (with Jeremy Lyons and Guy Pearce, I enjoyed the movie very much, good performances by Lyons and Pearce) Those are a few good remakes I can name. I still think it's funny how people bash movies when they haven't even seen it yet, just because it's a remake. |
Originally posted by Pants Name a remake made in the last 5 years that was good. It doesn't even have to be better than the original, merely "good". Ocean's 11 The Ring Traffic I deliberately excluded films that could be considered new films based on old source material (such as Lord of the Rings and The Bourne Identity). If I included those, there would be several more. |
Yeah, "Traffic" was a remake I forgot about that.
Not to mention yet, "The Count of Monte Cristo" was a remake and that was a very entertaining film. So not all new remakes are bad. How would you know an upcoming remake is going to be bad when you haven't even seen any trailers or the movie itself yet? People do get dissapointed by not enough originality but there are classic films that deserve an updating. |

GIMME A BREAK!!!!!!
When Hollywood tries original movies you guys put them down and hate them. So they go back to re-makes and you guys put them down and hate them. either way Hollywood is screwed so why bother? They still make their money. The Fifth Element comes to mind..... |
Ahh yes, there are a few out there, and while they do exist, I'm just looking to see something different...
Don't get me wrong, I liked... OCEAN'S ELEVEN (actually, like the newer one better) THE THOMAS CROWN AFFAIR - Steve McQueen was the man! But if you're are going to do a remake, just give it a little life of its own, that's all. Add a little flavor. It's like being a cook... Do you think everyone makes Chili the same way? No. They add their own spice. that's all I'm asking for... And no, I'm not referring to the SPICE CHANNEL. :D |
oceans 11 (the remake) is a great great movie.
|
Ocean's 11 has the strange distinction of being better than the original but still not any good. All the others named are not up to what I would call "good". Most I would place at "poor" or "abysmal" some as "average".
But I'll be fair, Trafic was "good" (at least 2/3 of it was) so you got me; there was one good remake in the last 5 years. |

You guys don't really want originality.....
|
