It's nice to see a decent movie overtake the utter-trash that was Spiderman.

Yea I just saw Spiderman on HBO last week and have to say it sucked compared to TMR. I thought it was juvenile and had cheezey effects. I honestly don't understand how it made to much money. I Matrix movies are repeat viewing material all the way.

Funny how so many people looooved Spider-Man yet never complained about how FAKE he looked in his CG form, yet people whine and bitch about how TMR CG sucked because some agents looked fake.

I can't understand how a few fake looking agents out of a hundred can take you out of a movie, but at the same time a fake looking Spider-Man (the main character) is negligible.

Keanu Reeves is rich! Supposedly he's getting 15% of the gate (for giving up a lot of his upfront salary).

I liked Spider-Man. Want to talk about utter trash? Give Lucas a ring.

I don't think there's a chance in a hell that MR will touch Spiderman's $400 mil, but it is indeed quite a feat to be compared, especially with the R-rating (which is supposed to be the kiss-of-death for box office success).

Funny thing is because of Spider-Man I could tell what effects Sony Imageworks did on Matrix Reloaded because they have the same unrealistic and horrid traits to them. Sony Imageworks did all the effects on Spider-Man (it was a good movie, but some of the effects were very off-putting...you can read my review of it on DVDTalk) and some of the effects in Reloaded.

Yea I hear that as well and posted it last week. What I head was 15 million a movie plus 15% of the gross. Not a bad years work.

I think Keanu had to give up his $30 million salary (or most of it to get the special effects done), but with the 15% take, he could easily pull in $25 million for the first sequel alone.
