I'll just stay home and watch Tombstone Vista Edition.
And maybe get Silverado to remember Costner back when he was still watchable and you didn't have to keep looking behind his ego. |
Have any more reviews come out since the Dark Horizons one?
|
I thought Costner was great in both (the little seen) "The War" and (the moderate hit) "A Perfect World".
|
Re: Eastwood vs. Costner.
"A man's gotta know his limitations." Eastwood knows his perfectly; whereas Costner is largely oblivious to his. |

Not true.
I read his interview on CHUD this morning and he seems very aware of his commercial limitations, and the audiences acceptance of future Westerns. |

Its a great interview.
I think, much like so many actors out there, or people in the public eye in general, there is a grear amount of ****** written about Kevin Costner. Every time I read an interview with him, it reminds me why I became a fan in the first place. He's just an average guy, who happens to have a body of acting work comparable to anyone. |
I caught the end of an interview with him on Good Morning America this morning, too. Guess the blitz is on to promote the film.
He has the most amazing house out in the mountains. It was unbelievable. |
Holy crap, has anyone seent the new one sheets for Open Range. They are some of the COOLEST one-sheets I've seen in a very long time. I NEED ONE. These things alone make me want to support the movie.

Nice spaghetti western homage, I'll give it that.

I saw Costner's episode of Inside The Actor's Studio yesterday, and he came off as a great, unpretentious person. He addressed the audience as his equals ( Saying " we " a lot, instead of " I " when answering questions about acting techniques ). He also showed no shame towards Waterworld and Postman, saying that he's still glad he made them. These days, a lot of actors turn their backs on the films they make when the films aren't received well by the masses. John Leguizamo and Sam Jackson have done this, among others. It's nice to see an actor/director stand by all the projects they make, and explain the reasons why they believed in the projects. If his behavior on the show is any indication of Costner's reported " ego ", then I hope he keeps the " ego " for the rest of his career.
Oh, and Open Range will rule. |

While I will most likely see Open Range, I don't see why so many of you are getting so hyped for this flick. I hold Westerns on a pretty high level, and if this one doesn't deliver on the level of The Wild Bunch, Unforgiven, or The Searchers, then I will be sorely disappointed.
I thought Dances With Wolves was fair, but found The Postman to be an unwatcheable pile of crap. |
I'm looking forward to seeing this movie. Hopefully I can talk my friends into watching it.

Has anyone been reading the reviews?
Looks like the word is pretty good on this. Hopefully he can get a no.1 opening in this week's box office |
I'm hoping I get a chance to see this over the weekend. It's been too long since we've had a really good western.
It'll be nice to finally go see a movie that's not adapted from a comic book, is not based on an old TV show, and is not a sequel. |
Currently 76% Fresh at Rotten Tomatoes. Seems to be recieved
quite well. I'm looking forward to seeing this one as well. Jason |
our paper gave it one and a half star saying it was too slow that sort of uses dumb jokes to try to keep the pace moving.
Also, why is this rated R again. I read on screenit.com and it didn't look that bad, could of (and probably should have beeen) rated pg13 |

I saw OPEN RANGE and was pleasantly surprised.
Robert Duvall gives a great performance and Kevin Costner mostly keeps to himself or fires his guns. It runs 2 hours, 15 minutes and is moderately paced. There's a lot of talking and riding etc. I also enjoyed Y TU MAMA TAMBIEN'S Diego Luna as their sidekick Buttons. He's funny and has a major role in the film. Until the end of the movie, it would've been PG-13.....but there's quite a bit of violence towards the end. This was just a nice change of pace. A quality western that will get the older crowd out of the house and into the theatre. This is easily the best thing that Costner has been involved with since Dances With Wolves. OPEN RANGE will do for the western what 28 Days Later did for the Horror/Sci-Fi genre earlier this summer. Highly recommended. |

IT JUST STICKS IN MY CRAW!
At the cinema today it's making a killing, bringing in anyone who ISN'T watching Freddy Vs. Jason. My manager reckons it'll be no.2 this weekend easy, and he's usually right about these things. |
