Watered down violence
One of the things that I noticed is the watered down violence. In the first movie, when Neo and the rest storm the skyscraper, their guns blaze and they shoot the guards. In Reloaded they just knock 'em out or the violence is off-screen. Political correctness?

Anyway, the "watered down violence" statement isn't really fair.
In the original, they were going up against mainly humans with guns, pre-Neo "The One" stage. Really, their only way of fighting back was with guns.
This time around, we don't see a huge battle between security guards and Neo. And even if we had, there wouldn't be a need for guns because Neo can, well, you know what he can do.
I don't think it was so much a PC move as it was just not necessary.

after columbine controvesy, i have no doubt that the films violence was watered down to some extent. example trinity's fight when she enters the plant, uses kung fu instead of an uzi that she used in the first film, but part of what you say is true they are up against agents more in this film where weapons are almost useless against them. but the reason is definitely not because they are afraid of hurting people because they are the people they are trying to free. why did monica bellucci only shoot one of the guards which caused the chase, reason behind it or just for brothers w to get some action???

I don't think it was watered down at all. Persephone shooting her husbands bodyguard in the head, blood shooting all over the wall.
Neo slamming the spiked boulder weapon thing into that chicks chest. Wide shot of the entire room, blood flowing out of her white shirt onto the floor.
Trinity shooting one of the twins point blank in the arm while Morpheus holds it stuck in the door.
Far from watered down.
Then again, there's no need for gun-violence anymore, since Neo is now the one... :-/
