Anybody else NOT rushing to see Matrix Reloaded
Once, back in 1999 or so, I eagerly awaited this sequel. Now that it's here, I am indifferent to it, based mainly on the negative reviews I have been hearing about it. The first one came out without much hype, really, and since it was great and different, it caught our attention, but it seems like more about making another "hit" movie than making a good movie. A problem, I think, plagues many sequels these days.
I did go to the theater this weekend, but I saw Chicago. At the ticket counter, I was trying to remember the name of the movie I wanted to see and the guy automatically thought I would want to see Matrix Reloaded. Uh...no, not necessarilly. I loved the first movie, but I am in no rush to see this, and unless somebody else I know wants to see it, I probably will wait for the DVD, even if I choose to get it then. And it is rather dishartening to walk into a multiplex and see all those green signs above 80% of the theater doors. I know this is an anticipated release, but really, does it have to be in so many theaters at once? |
I'll probably go see it eventually. I'm in no rush. The first time I saw the original was the day the DVD was released.
I'm gonna wait just so I don't have to deal with the damn crowds.
I was pretty eager to see it but I could've waited. The main reason I went to see it right away was so no one would spoil the movie for me before I saw it.
I never see films on opening weekend, it's just too noisy. I prefer to catch it on an early Tuesday matinee. I've heard that it's gotten negative reviews, but I haven't read them to see what the problems are. Did the first one get good reviews? I just hope it's a fun ride, I'm not expecting a masterpiece.
I will see it eventually....really does not have any relevance to my life other than another hollywood flick for the masses...
I'll check it out in a couple weeks...
No rush here.

Same with me... instead I went and saw Down With Love.

Heck, I'll probably just borrow the dvd from a friend when it comes out.
Beginning to wonder if I'm the only person in the world who wasn't blown away by the first film. (bought it, watched it once or twice, then Ebay'ed it) |

I will see it someday, just not today or tomorrow. I hate crowds and my desire to see this drop about 50% after all the negative reviews/comments... And I have yet to see X2.
I didn't go to Reloaded either this weekend. I just don't care that much. I'm rather spend my time going through the new Truffaut box set. I might catch Reloaded in a month after the hype dies down, or maybe I'll get the DVD if the price is around $14.99.
i'll probably check a matinee in a couple of weeks. weekday that is....i hate the crowds.
I'm not in a rush. I didn't like the first one that much. But I'll watch it sooner or later. Just can't stand the crowds either. :D
I'm quite amazed with the amount of bad reviews it's getting. I wonder if this will affect the sales of their third film. |
I'm going this weekend, but not too much in a hurry. Liked the first one and this looks like lots of fun. And everyone keeps talking about bad reviews, but really most reviews have been pretty goood. Granted many have expressed disapointment, but they aren't negative in an Episode I way. If you go to rottentomatos.com the movie has a 75% rating, which is quite excelleent especially for a summer blockbuster. The first one is higher with a 87% rating there, but what sequel could live up to the love shown to that movie? I'd say review wise it's doing pretty well with all the hype taken into consideration.
First one didn't mean anything to me and this new one doesn't either. I saw the first one after it had been in the theatre for a month. Will probably wait that long for this one also.
I too don't get all the references to "negative reviews." I have yet to seen a negative review and as others have pointed out, according to RottenTomatoes.com, the movie is getting positive reviews from more than three-fourths of reviewers.
I can understand not being jazzed for the sequel, I mean I was but so what. Everybody is different. But to base your decision on whether to see a movie on somebody else's "negative review," especially when they seem to be in the minority, is just not right. Go see what you want and trust your own opinions instead of a reviewers for once maybe? |
not only do I hate the crowds, I'm afraid it's just not going to live up to my viewing of the first film. Even the good reviews seem to focus on the action while I thought the story of the first one was good. I'll see it one of these days
Most people who may not care for it may eventually see it due to the hype and just to see what the fuss is about; curiousity factor.
The film is showing in as many as 5-6 screens per theater; I certainly would NOT worry about it being too crowded. I get the feeling this is like the same folks who said "I'm too cool for Titanic" so I'm not going to see it. Certainly see whatever film you want to see, but don't pass up a chance to see the one the most anticipated films of the year. Reviews have been MIXED in worst case scenario, and there's plenty of good with the bad. It's far from a perfect film, but there are incredibly entertaining moments and one of the most innovative and exciting car chase scenes ever put on film. |
I'll probably see it eventually, but it's definitely not high on my list. I'm actually more excited about The Hulk and X-2 than I am about this. Might even wait for the DVD instead....

here here - I can wait for the DVD (will probably not even rush then)... I hated the first one, but I'll see this one eventually out of curiosity.
I'm not rushing to see it either. I'm sure I'll like it, but I'd rather wait a couple weeks for the crowds of rowdy 17 year olds to die down
