The significance of this License Plate number?

I saw this on the official website, and the caption has me thinking. I have no idea what the significance of this is, perhaps one of you guys do?

[88] is a 2x2 matrix full of zeros.

So AL887, could be A[88] or 'A Matrix'

Where do you get 31337 out of AL887, asside from the 7s of course?

Which car is that? An agent's, or the one that the Keymaker takes?

That was from the free way chase sequence, so probably the one the keymaker takes. Since the Agents had every car on the freeway.

i think the real clue is about the OTHER license plate. Look at the reflection on the right side of the bumper and you'll realize that the film was actually produced by MGM.

If they wanted to be 1337, no one was stopping them from using real threes. Too much of a stretch, although it was the first thing i thought of.

"...you will be required to select from the Matrix, 23 individuals, 16 female, 7 male to rebuild Zion."

8 + 8 + 7 = 23

A = anomaly? L = 1 as in The One?

Just thoughts.

I am tempted to say it's a phone number:

887-C98-4768 (887-298-4768)

for a Mr. Agent "L" but the 887 prefix is not in use yet.

Its referring to an aspect of non-linear matrix equations that would probably have been used in the actual programming of the Matrix. If you read up on quadratic matrices and control theory you'll see.
