The Italian Job Trailer

Just saw this with The Core (a decent end of the world movie, nothing special or of note) and loved it, Norton as a bad guy could rock and the cast looks awesome, very cool seeing Jason Statham in anything.

I thought it looked good, too. I hope its not just another so-so movie w/ a great cast. Is the original any good?

I saw the trailer attached to Basic. Looks decent, but I have a feeling it's not going to be too good. And those Mini's look totally out of place, homage to the original or not.

Most cars look out of place on subway tracks!

I saw the trailer this past weekend, I gotta say I'm looking forward to this one. The cast rocks, the premise seems pretty cool and there's a Mini car chase.

Norton, well I love the guy, but him causing trouble on the set is par for the course.

I cannot wait to see this. I absolutely loved the original - probably my favorite Michael Caine movie.

Well, Norton's problems could come from reports that this movie was more a contractual thing for him at the studio than a choice he wouldve made on his own.

The original is great fun. Don't expect the new one to be similar. The original is a fun, British humored heist movie. Quite funny, somewhat absurd and great entertainment with one of the best endings I've seen. Check it out. Here's hoping the new one is decent though...eh we'll see.

If the film's only as good as how that trailer looks... I'll stick with my 1968 version DVD, thanks...

Is it available now? The last time I checked the R1 DVD was postponed so I ended up getting the R2 edition.

The original is indeed a very cool movie, and I am interested to see what they do with this one.

Probably end up being like gone in 60 secs II.

Just caught a screening of it, and tho I haven't seen the original, this one stands up completely on it's own. The planning and heist scenes are very reminisent of Ocean's Eleven, with a bit more humor. Very clever, funny, and enjoyable. It's definately going to make some money come september.

The Italian Job Trailer

Wow. I don't have to see the movie now. That was the most complete trailer I've ever seen. A beginning, middle, end, and even credits at the end all in one trailer. Thank God I didn't waste my money. You can see the cliff notes of this movie at:

Maybe a spoiler involved. ------------One shot with the truck coming through the floor seems to be a major plot point. An earlier trailer seemed to have a shot taken from later trailers with the truck disappearing into a tunnel and 3 or 4 emerging from the other end. Still hyped for the movie though.

That trailer completely spoiled the movie for me, especially when
Spoiler:
it's revealed that Edward Norton betrays the group

Seriously, wtf were these people on when they made this trailer?

SPOILER (maybe) --------That part wasnt that a big deal to me, Iron Chef, I guess because they want to set up Norton as the villain to the public.

How many films do we need where

Spoiler:
Ed Norton betrays his crew after a big heist? At least in this one it happens near the beginning of the film...rather right before the end.

Maybe Robert "movies are like fast food restaurants and people want to go in knowing exactly what they're getting" Zemeckis got his hands on the marketing department for this film. Examples: Cast Away, What Lies Beneath.

I agree, having seen a 'work in progress' print, this is immediately forshadowed because it is used in the first heist scene in the movie. The ending is really lame, and I woudn't be surprised if the studio reworks it.

Alright here's the day after report.

I too viewed an unfinished print. I guarantee that there's still some minute editing to be done and some scenes need to be cleaned up... but...

I was very surprised. It's actually a very slick popcorn movie. Norton's not as bad as to say that he's "phoning it in" but I can see that he wasn't exactly challenged.

Cool chase scenes, great supporting chemistry and some innovative camera work... particularly during the Mini-Cooper chase sequences. If you're a fan of Soderbergh's Ocean's Eleven, you'll find this to be great fun.

...and the shot in the trailer showing Norton foiling the heist, isn't exactly a spoiler. It happens within the first ten minutes of the film. It's only the prologue. The movie really starts when Marky Mark's funky bunch plan the heist to get the loot back. ...and like Ocean's Eleven the fun's not whether they'll pull off the job... but how they'll pull off the job.

...and again... just don't think too much.
