Least Convincing Screen Couple
Maybe the new movies will cast things in a different life, but I simply do not believe for one second that Trinity (played by Carrie-Ann Moss) was in love with Neo (played by Keanu Reeves) in The Matrix. I mean, what, she's in love with him because of his bulging... intellect? I don't think so.
And I don't really buy into the actors having any real chemistry. I felt like Trinity kind of looked down on Neo and derided him, and then suddenly at the end there's the hokey "I love you" followed by Keanu Reeves waking up in his glass coffin. (No, wait, that was another movie...) Again, maybe Reloaded will change everything for me, but after rewatching the network version of The Matrix last night... As Evil Kneivel would say, "No way, mister. No way." In second place, I'd have to put Tom Hanks and Meg Ryan in You've Got Mail. I know, I know, Sleepless in Seattle was a great romantic movie, but that might have been because they're only physically in the same place for about, what, three seconds? In You've Got Mail, they share extensive screen time, and except for one scene where she is sick and he brings her flowers... there is absoutely zero chemistry, IMO. The very end, in the park... no, again, not for a second. In third place... I dunno, maybe Bogart and Bacall in The African Queen? Again, great movie, but I never bought her falling for him, and that dampened my enthusiasm somewhat. What do you think? |
But Neo is the one. :)
|
Harrison Ford and Anne Heche in 6 Days, 7 Nights (or something like that). I think this movie was right after she came out of the closet as Ellen's gf.
|
No one mentions the obvious?
Natalie and Hayden Also: Denzel Washington & Angelina Jolie Clint Eastwood & Meryl Streep Sean Connery & Catherine Zeta Jones |

Ben and J-Lo ;)

Jodie Foster and Matthew McConaughey in Contact is what first came to mind.
|
Helen Hunt and Jack Nicholson in As Good as it Gets.
:yack: edited to add the yack |
Sean Connery and any chick under 65. I like Sean but come on.

The younger women do find Sean Connery sexy at his age. :)
I don't know, I might get flamed for this but I'm going to say Tony Bermuda and Maria in the "West Side Story". That movie is a classic for sure, and I love that movie to death, but Tony just fell in love with Maria pretty quickly in the dance hall and he got her right away. It was strange. |
Originally posted by dvdnation Sean Connery proves that men get better with age. Sean Connery and Anthony Hopkins look better today than they did at 25. my vote is anyone with Minnie Driver Like I said....I LIKE CONNERY. However, putting him with younger women sucks. It doesn't work anymore. |
George Lazenby and Diane Rigg in OHMSS. They hated each other, and it showed.
Bruce Willis and Michelle Phiffer - The Sum of Us :yack: George Clooney and Julia Roberts - Ocean's 11 Brad Pitt and Julia Roberts - The Mexican Billy Crysal and Debra Winger - Forget Paris :yack: :yack: And to steal from Will & Grace when the stars watched Jack kiss Rosario at their "wedding", "I haven't seen a kiss that awkward since Richard Gere and Jodie Foster in Summersby" |
One of my favorite jaw-dropping pairings was John Travolta and Lily Tomlin in Moment By Moment.
And I still don't get what Jessica sees in Roger Rabbitt. She could do so much better.... |
Mark Wahlberg and Thandie Newton in The Truth About Charlie - no chemistry whatsoever.
|
Definitely have to second the vote for Portman and Christensen. Even Jake Lloyd seemed to have more chemistry with her. :D

Woody Allen and any woman who he has as his wife/girlfriend in his movies.
|
Watching Tom Cruise and Nicole Kidman is embarassingly uncomfortable, considering they were "married".
