Beware of the Time magazine review!

I have read on several different websites, that the Time Magazine review of The Matrix Reloaded gives away the ending of the movie.

You have been warned.

Thanks for the warning

Thanks for the warning. . .I was gonna buy the Time this week, but one thing I don't wanna be is spoiled.

Was the review positive or negative or mixed?

I don't know. I'll probably read it after I see the movie though.

I see no real review there (and the spoiler section is clearly marked, so you can totally miss it...it starts on page 2 and goes through a good part of page 3). Corliss really doesn't give a yea or nay on it.

Can someone explain to me why a reviewer, reviewing a movie that is not even released yet, would give away the ending?

Stupidity?

Contempt?

I really don't see why anyone would do that.

Anybody care to enlighten me?

Time did the same on their cover story of Star Wars: Attack of the Clones. This is nothing new for Time. At least they warn you before they do it.

One of the issues that is constantly at odds in newsrooms is that critics sometimes want their review to be read after the person has seen the film (usually because to discus the issues they want to discuss a critic has to bring up moments that would be spoilers to a person who hasn't seen the film yet). Editors on the other hand want the review to be out early to entice viewers to see the film. In cases like this the critic and his editor are at odds.

You can add into this that Time is a division of AOL Time Warner and, coincidentally enough, Matrix Reloaded/Revolutions is ALSO done by AOL Time Warner ;)

I couldn't resist. I went ahead and read the whole article...looks disappointing, in terms of twists and story...the action though is why I'm seeing this movie anyways.

They literally describe the entire movie's plot from beginning to end, just so you know.

I've got the issue right here but will not read it until Friday, AFTER I've seen the movie.

Have no fear of this, the spoilers are clearly marked off.
