Bubba Ho-Tep release?????
Has anyone heard when Bubba Ho-Tep will be released to a wider audience? I want to see this bigtime. I can't find any info on an official release anywhere. Any info would be appreciated. Thanks! Bruce Campbell for President.

ah DAMN.... you should have put some big ass QUESTION MARKS in the title... for a second I thought you had info on a release of Bubba Ho-Tep... I haven't heard anything and sadly, looks like this movie will never get the release it deserves... Bruce rules...

Saw it at the Egyptian in Los Angeles...
I'm not a huge Campbell/AOD/Evil Dead fan, but I enjoyed it.
Oh, and you really should put question marks in the title. |
Aaarrggh. I was also hoping for solid information.
|
damn you!! Use a question mark. I as well got all hyped up to read this as solid info about the film. :(
|
SORRY,SORRY!! I was in a hurry and I thought I put the question marks in. That's my fault.;)

i caught it at the Egyptian in L.A. as well and it was killer. it was your average evil dead type horror movie, and at the same time, so much more. i hope this comes out.

I emailed the webmaster at www.bubbahotep.com and he wrote this back to me. Looks like even people involved with the movie don't know when it's gonna get released:
RE: BUBBA HO-TEP / Bruce Campbell Dear Friend: Thanks for your kind note to bubbahotep.com. The upcoming theatrical release of BUBBA HO-TEP is in the active planning stages right now. Please check back to bubbahotep.com as we will be posting info soon! And in the meantime, please tell all of your friends about BH-T as we will need all the “grass roots” support we can get!!! Thanks! [email protected] |
Our local indy papers' film editor talked to someone involved with the production at SXSW. It's currently in negotiations for distribution, so maybe we'll know something in the next month or two... hopefully. :)
BTW, I'd link directly to the source, but I can't @ work. I'll try to throw a link down tonight. :) |
Here we go....
Hello, everybody. Just got back from the South By SouthWest film festival, where I watched a load of cool movies. Wish I could have stayed longer and seem even more movies, but this damn job thing keeps getting in the way. Anyway, some of the films I caught were films I'd been eyeballing for midnight movies. One of the films I was damn lucky to catch was Don Coscarelli's Bubba Ho-Tep. Damn, what a fine piece of entertainment that was! (Bruce Campbell as an aged Elvis battling an evil, soul-sucking mummy in an East Texas retirement home? What more could you possibly ask for?) The screening was super-packed. They had four times as many audience members trying to get in as seats. Don was there, along with writer Joe R. Lansdale. (Sweet!) Don said that there was a distribution deal in the works and it could result in theatrical showings. I'm still working on the Bruce Campbell/Joe Lansdale/Don Coscarelli flick "Bubba-Ho-Tep." I traded e-mails with one of the people involved last week. Seems they're on the verge of finalizing their distribution plans. I had hoped to catch them before the negotiations began in earnest and sneak a print up here to Albuquerque. Looks now like I'll have to wait until the ink is dry on all the contracts. Might be another month or so. |
The trailer is up. http://www.apple.com/trailers/independent/bubba_ho-tep/
I think it looks pretty funny. |
You know what sucks.. I wanted to go to the egyptian for the show, but it was sold out for atleast two weeks before.. then they pulled a fast one on me and added a second show. arrgh! when will this come out in a not so small release? :p
