"Jacobs Ladder" I would name it 'Jacobs Slide'.
Spoiler:
Jacob slid down into a hell on earth from the experimental drugs used on him and others, who shot each other to death or a limbo like he was in.

Star Trek 2: Wrath of Khan: Would have just left is Star Trek 2. Having Khan in the title totally kills the suspenseful buildup of Khan's arrival.

I'm not certain what new names I would give them, but The Shawshank Redemption and The Hudsucker Proxy deserved names that would have been a bit less "obtuse".

But you do understand that "jacob's ladder" is a biblical reference that is very significant to the film?

Village of the Damned both George Sanders and Christopher Reeves charactor faced that, especially in Reeves pic when the children 'knew' the army of police were coming and what they did.

All 3 including Jacobs thankfully are fiction, this is what I based the ladder to slide on. Of the above 3 none has any biblical reference, thanks for pointing it out.

The original film title --> Should be changed to

"Lara Croft: Tomb Raider" --> "Angelina Jolie's: Womb Raider"

"Mr. Deeds" --> "Unfunny Idiot Movie"

"Adaptation." --> "Adaptation." (obscure joke, sorry)

"Boogie Nights" --> "The Dirk Diggler Story"

"Saving Private Ryan" --> "Stop the War, I Have to Make a Poigant Speech"

"Austin Powers in Goldmember" --> "Out-of-Steam Tired Franchise"

"Star Trek: Nemesis" --> "Khan Wannabe"

"Boiler Room" --> "Wall Street 'n' da Hood"

and finally:

"Star Wars: Return of the Jedi" --> "Star Wars: The Muppet Show"

Anybody have any non-Tim Robbins films that should have different titles?

Ha!

In a similar spirit to some of these, how about:

"Wild Things" --> "Threesome"

"Speed" --> "La Vitesse" (obscure joke - 10 points for a correct reference!)

"Blade Runner" --> "Big Steaming Pile of Crap"

Isn't that an Eddie Izzard joke?

Dude, I can't believe you crapped on Blade Runner...

I'm going to go stand over THERE while you take the heat from the BR-heads.

10 points! And if the Blade Runner-lackeys show up I'll apologize for the hijack, and then go hide behind you. (Or maybe I'll go take some more screencaps.... )

Just watched The Last House on the Left today (rented from greencine.com), based on my girlfriend's desire to see it. She had read on some user's list on Amazon or somewhere that it was an excellent horror movie.

I watched it this afternoon and couldn't wait for it to end. When she got home from work, I asked her to watch it because she was the reason I rented it. She was so bored that she turned it off halfway through. She was slightly disturbed by the first rape scene (she didn't get to the second), but mainly she was tired of the crappy acting, period music and silly plot.

So, I'd change the title to Last DVD on the Shelf.

(And, yes, add me to the list of people that think that Blade Runner is overrated. Let's rename it to Android Schlock.)

On Tim Robbins I think "Mission To Mars " should be "M & M Answer to Mars". I am referring to the DNA use by a member to be his idea woman, then Gary Sinese taking a few away saying now what is it, a frog. Martian DNA shown on Don Cheadles computer and Sinese remembers the M & M's
used on the ship to be the answer or way to prove they were human.

I usually don't get up in arms over titles. On the one hand, the 400 Blows is such a cool, mysterious title, and it's the literal translation, but after seeing the movie, and knowing what "The 400 Blows" means, "Raising Hell" might have been an even cooler English title, but that's but a quibble.

I don't give much thought to titles, but a good one is very powerful(Trainspotting, Goodfellas, Raiders of the Lost Ark as a few). The only things I would touch are ones original titles that were changed. "Revenge of the Jedi" became "Return...", and I do understand why, but Revenge is such the cooler title to me. And not to live in fantasyland, but Lucas always had some B.S. about Jedi's being above revenge, blah blah, but they seem vicious at times, so far, i Attack of the Clones, so I think they could have justified the title.

But the one that's always irked me, and it's not like I even care for the movie, but I can't imagine why "Cop Gives Waitress 2 Million Dollar Tip" became "It could happen to you". The former says it all, and the latter says nothing. I'd be that title switch cost the movie 10 million at the box office. "CGW2MT" is something my parents would have seen, and they are not frequenters of the local movie house. Who cares about "ICHTY"? It' s not like that title made the movie any money, why change it?

I got it, don't worry.

Then again, I also got the La Vitesse comment. And how it did warm my heart to see other Izzard fans...

'I saw this in a movie about a bus that had to SPEED around a city, keeping its SPEED over fifty, and if its SPEED dropped, it would explode. I think it was called, The Bus That Couldn't Slow Down. '
