your favorite movie that your friends never heard of

earlier today i was watching some tube with some people and that zoom zoom zoom song in the mazda commercial came on so i asked if any of them saw the movie that the song was from before, and to my surprise none of them had. so i started asking a few others about the song and the movie, and no one i asked had heard of either. hence this thread. my notch goes to...

only the strong: by no means is it a great movie. the acting is subpar, but the fighting is awesome. i am a long-time fan of anything capoiera. came around from my break dancing days i guess.

anyone else got one of these? of course to answer i guess you must have friends, so maybe not everyone can answer, huh?

The Saint of Fort Washington (1993)

One of the best films nobody's ever seen or heard of. Performances are great, story is terrific, and it's a touching little drama.

Friends?

I'd never heard of Only the Strong. Can I be your friend? Pweeeese?

But seriously, the list would be massive. I don't really have any other movie-buff friends so most of them have never heard of half the stuff in my DVD cabinet.

None of my friends are film fanatics like me, everybody seems to think I'm some kind of weirdo with my "strange" movies, so in all honesty I don't think they've seen or even heard of probably about 40% or so of my collection.

I used to totally love that movie as a kid, haven't seen it in ages, I was starting to think my imagination had fabricated the whole damn thing.

[hijack] i remember renting saturday the 14th, i kept waiting for it to be funny. but it did have one moment which cracked me up;

when the family gets to the house at 4am they wait for the realistate agent. after waiting awhile the wife suggests, "maybe she meant 4 in the afternoon?" and the father says, "god! when does she sleep?" something like that. ah well maybe it was the mushrooms that made it funny [/hijack]

most of my friends have never heard of or seen riki-oh. the ones that know are the ones i forced to watch it.

Growing up the movie nobody knew was Army Of Darkness

More recently it took some time until Office Space became as popular as it is.

Mainly I only buy and watch the blockbuster hits. I'm not into older, foreign or independent films.

My list would be quite long as well. I have a couple friends who consider themselves movie buffs, but not at the ridiculously high level that I consider myself to be.

For example, many of my favorite films were made before 1980 - 90% of which my friends have probably never heard of.

Too much to be mentioned. But that's because I'm a film geek compared to them....

Here's one of my all-time favorite films that has simply slipped into obscurity - I have it on an OOP Vhs (p&s, unfortunately).

THE LOVERS OF TERUEL

I know I have mentioned this film, in other related threads. But one film that I like to mention that really impressed me was Spring Forward. Both Ned Beatty and Liev Schreiber give excellent performances in this film.

Other Films:
-Michael Winterbottom's Wonderland
-Madagascar Skin (starring John Hannah and Bernard Hill)
-The Price of Milk

The Iranian film about the young boy and the running shoes - the name escapes me.

Is it Children of Heaven?

My friends have never heard of at least half the DVDs I own.
