Don't miss the Apu Trilogy if you haven't seen it. Martin Scorsese brought those out a few years ago and they're excellent.

Lord of the Rings
Fellowship ....B
I like it, but it's overrated... it's fun to watch but I could care less about ANY of the characters
Two Towers ....A-
Great action sequences, but still not feeling the story... wait, is there a story?

Star Wars
Episode 4 ....A
A classic, slightly lacks the scope of the following films
Episode 5 ....A+
The perfect balance of everything
Episode 6 ....A
Ewoks are silly, but Jabba's palace + Luke, Darth, & the Emperor + gold Leia = winner

Indiana Jones
Raiders ....A
Great start, with a few minor lulls
Temple ....A+
So sue me... the most fun of the series
Crusade ....A
I hate the knight, but the action rocks

Back to the Future
1 ....A+
A total package
2 ....A-
Missing the heart of the original, but retains the fun
3 ....B
Loses the spirit of the first two, but it's okay

As for others...

I've never made it all the way through...
Godfather 3 or Exorcist 2

Jurassic Park (has this been mentioned?)
1 ....A-
A fun romp
2 ....B
Some of the individual scenes are more effective than the first, but there's too much silliness
3 ....B
Less effective than the first two, but less goofiness than two

Die Hard
1 ....A
Still great
2 ....B+
A decent follow-up
3 ....B
The detour from formula sometimes works and sometimes doesn't... the movie tries but I just didn't feel the same urgency

Evil Dead
1 ....B-
Never enjoyed this one as much as everyone else
2 ....A
Much better
3 ....A-
The most fun, but it loses a bit of the thrills

Living Dead
Night ....A-
Amazing
Dawn ....A
It's deliberate pace tricks you into being at ease... then it jolts you back to the edge of your seat... a true classic
Day ....B-
Almost too bleak for it's own good... the horror is less effective when you don't care about anyone in the movie

Not to mention all the comedy trilogies (Austin Powers, Porkys, Naked Gun) or horror trilogies (Sleepaway Camp)... or the series that should've been trilogies... such as Vacation (don't get me wrong, I love Christmas Vacation as a movie, but it just doesn't fit in with the others thematically or in its tone) or Superman (granted, 3 isn't perfect, but it has it's moments... Quest for Peace, on the other hand, is just awful).

DRG, very true about Day of the Dead. Although the idea was that everyone was supposed to be fed up with each other, it was overdone to the point that half the characters voices became too annoying.
