Just came out - didn't see a thread...

Watched this film tonight. Pretty mediocre IMO. Thoughts?

Like I said. Average comedy. Nicholson was great, and as I said before, if he weren't in it - I probably would have not seen it.

John C. Reilly in his scene was pretty good.

It wasn't bad. A few good cameos in there.

Haven't seen the movie, but I read on www.ew.com that they're expecting a $45 million opening weekend. Will be interesting to see what the final BO figures are.......we should be finding out soon.

It got sold out at a couple screenings around me, so I'd say a $45 million would be in hand.

I also thought it was average. If you want to see a comedy, then sure, see it--but if not, eh, why bother?

I usually don't like Sandler and his 'baby talk' comedy, but this one wasn't bad. I thought it was pretty funny.

If you want a laugh, there's nothing better at the Box Office.

I may be in the minority here, but I loved it. Found it hilarious and laughed like crazy. I just don't get dogging this film with comments like I have seen around DVDtalk. In another thread someone said like "lets get back to the films that don't make a lot of money and will stand the test of time." Can't get any more snobbish that that I guess. I get the feeling that Adam Sandler (no matter how good or bad he is in a film) is the kiss of death for a lot of people around here. I'm not a Sandler fan either (I only like Happy Gilmore and Punch-Drunk Love) but I don't feel his presence automatically damns a film either.

Anger Management is quite a funny film, and people looking for some great laughs I'd check it out. Jack and Adam are fantasic together, and overall it's a well made comedy.

True. For better or worse, it seems that Rule No. 1 for Proving How Savvy You Are on the Internet is: Demonstrate your exquisite taste in film by denouncing Adam Sandler (Michael Bay, Jerry Bruckheimer, whoever).

I thought this was a hilarious movie. Although I had been drinking a little bit while the movie was on, but it still was a great comedy. I didn't expect it to be that good.

I love Adam Sandler and was disapointed with this outing. Although I did laugh quite a bit, I spent most of my time just feeling bad for the guy.

This film was okay. There are laughs to be had, but some of the setup of the film seemed laborious for the payoff in the last act. But the audience I saw it with had a good time with most of the film. Jack brought the entire "Jack" persona to the role for the most part, and Adam brought very of his onscreen persona to the role (mainly in the singing scenes did he let it slip out). The supporting cast was okay, and used sparingly for plot setup.

I recommend it as a matinee, but it'll do fine at the box office until May when the 2 biggies hit the screen.

I give it 2.5 stars, or a grade of C+.

How this for irony at a showing of "Anger Management": The film's projection not only died once, twice, but 3 times during the showing before the manager came into the theater to offer refund/tickets for a future movie. The natives in the theater were definitely a bit restless after so many interruptions, but thankfully their anger management skills were fully engaged. I just slid into the other showing of the film (started 45 minutes later, so I had to go through a sense of deja vu to get through the rest of the film).

And, of course, anger management reared its ugly head as a young couple with a crying baby tested the audience's limits on multiple ocassions. Sigh...

Anger Management will do okay for the next couple of weeks (even with 50% dropoffs) until X-Men 2 shows up in May. That should get them to the $75 million mark to make up for production costs (then they need to make some more to cover the marketing budget). Given the trailer, yes, this film was review-proof.

Cameos:

Saw it yesterday - I thought it was pretty damn funny actually. Adam and Jack worked good together. John Turturro was great, too. Heather Graham and Marisa Tomei both looked most excellent. Me likes January Jones, too (the blonde lesbian porn star).

Now I can't get "I feel pretty..." out of my head. Damn song. :lol:

I went with my buddies Friday night and saw the film.

Went with my girlfriend (we both love Jack Nicholson) this afternoon and I tell you, the film gets better with a second viewing.

About the cameos:

My girlfriend had no idea who any of them were. I had to tell her their names (and considering Knight and McEnroe what they do.)

But I thought it weird: Rudy is the mayor in the film, but the film is set in 2003 and he is no longer mayor.

Ummm no. You address a former Mayor as Mayor, just like you address a former President as Mr.President.

Woody was hilarious in this movie!

This movie was a weird flick to me :lol: I liked it mostly because of Jack of course.

One thing that bothered me....

The weird thing for me when I saw it, was the scene where Gulianni says The strange thing is that I was the only one in the theatre to laugh at that line.

One thing that bugged me was John C. Reilly's part. I think he can do better than that. I mean you kinda lose respect for the guy after that.
