why wasn't Emilio Estevez credited in Mission: Impossible?
 

He played a computer whiz/hacker in probably De Palma's most underrated film ever- Mission: Impossible
Yet,I did not see his name in the end credits,it was Emilio wasn't it?

I remember seeing his name... maybe in the opening credits? I remember him getting quite high billing... maybe 4th or so despite his uh... 'limited' role.

No Emilio was uncredited

Maybe he just didn't want too....as much as we all like to think that actors think only with their ego, actors have been known to do the occasional uncredited cameo.

It was a small role. Nothing big, just this little role that he probably did more as a favor to his buddy Tom Cruise than for any other reason. I suppose it might be better to be uncredited than to just be one of the cast perhaps?

He wouldnt be the first to get an uncredited cameo.

Heard he accepted a small role because his bud Tom Cruise asked him to.

You know how when an actor is so recognizable and just so good that when he makes a cameo appearance or does a small role he isn't credited.

It's weird sometimes why people do uncredited work. I guess in this case, since its so short, its no big deal. In fact, many cameos are uncredited. But then you have something like Kathleen Turner in Who Framed Roger Rabbit. Why did she go uncredited? Or Don Cheadle in Ocean's 11?

I want to know why Robin Williams was'nt credited in The Adventure of Baron Manchausen? I heard rumor that he was'nt happy with his performance as King of the Moon and asked for his name be taken out of the film.

It was because he knew his part was small and he didn't want the film sold on his name when he was only in it for 4 minutes.

Or Bruce Willis in Four Rooms. Or Ben Stiller in Happy Gilmore.

Well isn't Kevin Spacey virtually uncredited in Se7en? He shows up in the final credits but not the opening. He and Fincher agreed that if his name was listed in the beginning people would be looking for him the whole movie and realize that he was the killer long before he showed up on screen.

Estevez may have been the same thing. I remember thingking "Cool, didn't know HE was in this too" and then BOOM, he's dead. It certainly took ME by surprise when he bit it (quite literally). :)

BTW, isn't Robin Williams also uncredited in Dead Again?

It adds to the mystique. Like Christopher Walken in Sleepy Hollow.

Stiller was credited for Happy Gilmore, to most people at the time of the movie, no one knew who he was.
How about Chris Farley in Billy Madison.

JT Walsh in Outbreak. I searched for his name a buncha times. Could never figure out why he was uncredited.

It wasn't him, it was his manager. In the book <b>Losing the Light</b> it's explained that Williams jumped into the role long after the film had nose-dived into production problems. His manager made sure that there was no way that they could "pimp Robin's ass." They were banned from using him or his name in publicity stills or press releases.

Ironically, it's because Williams was in Munchausen that Gilliam was offered to direct <b>The Fisher King</b>.

When I first read this I thought you meant his manager in the movie not Robin. I was thinking.....jeez it sounded and looked just like Robin Williams.

Robin Williams cut a similar deal with Disney for his uncredited role in Aladdin. He worked for a smaller salary, in exchange they weren't supposed to use his name to promote the film. It backfired when Disney couldn't resist the publicity and used him to publicize the film anyway. Williams had a falling out with the studio for several years over it.

I think there's a sense of coolness that goes along with a well known actor doing an uncredited cameo. It's kind of like "look how cool I am, I'm a well known star and I will grace this film with my presence and not even be credited"

By going uncredited, it seems as if more attention is paid to a bit role than if the actor were to just be low on the bill. I remember Don Cheadle asked not to be credited for Ocean's 11 because he was upset that he was going to be billed so low. I guess to him, being uncredited was better to him than being billed behind Clooney, Pitt, Roberts, etc..

Another major uncredited role I remember was Steven Seagal in Executive Decision.
