Storytelling Devices in Movies

I'm working on yet another project, and I'd like to enlist some help from here. What I am looking for is storytelling devices used in movies (or television) that could be used by historians in their attempt to write about history. Any help or info would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.

You could go the Rashoman/Citizen Kane route where you have different people give their thoughts on what happened. That's all I can think of with such a generic question.

Yeah, I just realized how generic it was. I ended up using Pulp Fiction, Magnolia, and Memento. Rashomon was already done, so I couldn't use that one. Thanks anyway.
