May DC FilmFest screenings of "Black Pirate"/"Faust" at National Gallery of Art

For all you DC cinephiles:

Two silent films from 1926 will be presented with new musical scores during May. The Alloy Orchestra of Boston returns to the National Gallery of Art on Saturday, May 3, with their new score for "The Black Pirate", starring Douglas Fairbanks, Sr. and presented in association with FilmFest DC. On Saturday, May 31; Daniel Schnyder, Kenny Drew Jr., and David Taylor perform their score for F.W. Murnau's "Faust". The presentation of Faust is made possible through the cooperation of the Embassy of Switzerland and the Goethe Institute, Washington.

Sounds great, I'll try to be there!

I'm going to try to catch them too. The full schedule for FilmFest DC comes out 4/18, by the way.

Can't wait to see what films will be featured, but also anxiousily awaiting to see what the renovated reopening of the Avalon Theatre will look like.
