This hasn't been widely reported, but it appears that filmmaker Stan Brakhage died two days ago:

Yeah really. This sucks. Criterion finnally creates a wide outlet for his work to be seen and he doesn't live to see it. Very sad. I didn't know he was so old. I mean 70 isn't exactly old, but I thought the guy was in his 30's or 40's

I only knew of Brakhage through others' writings and references. Sadly, I missed an exhibition last year of a number of his works. So, I'm looking forward to the upcoming anthology, albeit with a bittersweet tinge.
