If you Like Amadeus, Please share why?

I bought this Friday as part of the BB WB sale (2 for $25) and am pretty close to watching it for the first time.

Wouls anyone care to share any reasons why they think this is a good film?

What sorts of things do you appreciate the most?

I'm not looking for a review. Just some things that may wet my appetite.

BTW, if you hate this film, feel free to share as well.

why set yourself up for failure? Just watch it and think what you wish to think about it. It's an enjoyable movie. I see watch it.

BEST...FILM...EVER!

A wonderful, multi-layered script, astounding performances, excellent costumes and production design, and, of course, the music.

Oh, and Edward Rooney, Dean of Students in a wig.

What's not to like?

A beautiful, witty, dramatic, funny, tragic, magnetically interesting film with great performances. Also one of the few to feel like it gives you true insight on the creative spark and the creative process of music.

Enjoy it, I envy your n00bness.

In my top 5 for most enjoyable movies. IMO the theatrical cut is much better. That may be because I've seen it 100 times and the directors cut only once but I feel the added scenes contribute little to the movie... except
Spoiler:
it shows why Stanza has so much hate and anger for Soliari(sp?) in the final scenes

One of my all time favourites...love everything about it as mentioned above. Gets better with every viewing. BTW, I am talking about the directors cut.

F Murray Abraham's performance was brilliant..It's stands alone IMO as one of the best performances of the 80''s along with Deniro (Raging Bull) and Eric Roberts (Star 80)

I'm just starting to search the threads to see if people talked about it when the disc came out, but did you guys find the audio very "hot"? I had to turn my sound to about 25% (normally it's at around 50%) and even then I'd still get noise at certain parts of music when it go too loud.

Absolutely awesome in every respect. There is not one thing about the film that didn't fit and work perfectly. The Music , The costumes, script and incredible acting all went to make a truly phenomenal picture. Next to Lord of the Rings, this is my absolute favorite motion picture...ever!

F. Murray Abraham's performance was more than just brilliant. The art direction is great, the music, and the cinematography. Hope you have the director's cut.
