Movie series that changed ratings

With the upcoming Matrix Reloaded possibly being rated PG-13, Iwas curious as to what other movie series changed there ratings from movie to movie.

I don't know if this one should really count. Prior to 1984, the PG-13 rating did not exist. Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom was one of the movies that helped spurn the move to create the new rating, as it was deemed to be a bit much for the paltry PG rating. If the first two films had been released when the rating existed, there's not doubt that the entire series would have a PG-13 rating.

It was, but the new director's cut sports a PG... maybe this is what he's referring to.

As for others...
Robocop (R) (original cut got an X)
Robocop 2 (R)
Robocop 3 (PG-13)

It appears to now, though the NC-17 didn't exist when The Evil Dead was first released. Evil Dead II looks to have been re-rated to R, according to CARA.

When did the news of The Matrix sequels getting a PG-13 emerge? I thought Joel Silver himself said they would be "R" and deserving of the rating.

exactly...any proof to back this up, because last I heard, it was still going to be a solid "R". I don't see Silver or the Wachowski's cutting anything to get a pg-13...so i doubt this will be the case...

I believe that Indiana jones and the temple of Doom was the 1st pg-13 movie.Or it inspired pg-13.Spielberg pushed for this rating to avoid an R rating

Actually, I too havent heard any new buzz surroundig it being PG-13. But a few months back fellow DVD Talkers were ranting in fury because it was slated to get a PG-13 rating so as to attract a larger audience. And if you look at it, the first one could have easily been PG-13 because there was no nudity, the violence was mainly thematic (I have seen PG-13 movies with more or as much violence), and the language was not a big problem (If you dont believe me on this one rent the movie Hardball which is PG-13 and youll see what Im talking about.) With a few edits (if any) or the a reputation this series has now, it wouldn't have been R.

You really should edit your post. Matrix Reloaded hasn't been rated yet, and there is no indication that it will be PG13 besides a bunch of people talking about "if it happens, I will be pissed."

This is an interesting thread, but your initial post is wrong.
