"Ruins" is a bit strong, but I try to avoid Tom Hanks. I just find him totally annoying, uninteresting, and unappealing as an actor. Not particularly charismatic, either. I know he gets an Oscar nom for everything he does nowadays, but for my money his most likeable performance was in Dragnet.

There has never been an actor who has ruined the cinematic experience for me, however, there are some actors who has mad some terrible performances that has affected the cinematic experience in a negative way. Daredevil was the last film that could be an example.

Ben Affleck, hands down, no contest.
This guy is freaking awful. The only movie I've ever liked him in is Dazed and Confused, but that was because he was playing a jackass. Guess it wasn't much of a stretch for him.

Arnold Schwarzenegger.
Not only does he stink as an actor, but he's managed to pretty much ruin the entire science fiction on film genre by putting the idea into the studio heads that any science fiction movie has to double as a "man with a big gun" action flick, instead of the more thoughtful fare of past years like "Blade Runner" or "2001: A Space Odyssey."

Hmm....I haven't seen all his movies, but I think Owen can be kinda funny. I liked his "outer space" line in Armageddon; it was one of the few one-liners that actually worked in that flick. Not because it was brilliantly written - it was all in the delivery.
Anyway, not trying to start a fight. To each his own.
