Elektra Movie Announced!

Fox/Regency just officially announced the Elektra movie, which will go into development in addition to the Daredevil sequel! Here's the press release...

The hidden clues to the biggest mystery in the blockbuster film DAREDEVIL have been revealed: Elektra lives! With audiences clamoring for more of the female warrior, Twentieth Century Fox and Regency Enterprises today announced that, in addition to a DAREDEVIL sequel, they are moving forward with a new event film based on the Elektra character.

The new ELEKTRA story will be set after the events depicted in DAREDEVIL. Jennifer Garner will reprise the role she brought to life in that film, and script development will begin immediately.

Elektra first appeared in "Daredevil" comics in 1980 with words and art by comics legend Frank Miller. The character is the daughter of powerful and rich Greek business tycoon Nikolas Natchios and the girlfriend of Matt Murdock / Daredevil. Although she possesses no superhuman abilities, Elektra is a consummate practitioner of the martial arts, and wields a pair of three-pronged daggers, or sai.

We all saw this coming! I guess this will be apart of Marvels 2005 line up

Eh... just like comic.

In comic, Elektra was killed by Bulleyes and came back alive couple issues later.

What's news...

Doesn't matter if she's great or not.. I figure they see it as 2 hours of jennifer garnner (sp) in something tight and small = $$$$

Heck, I'll go see it - maybe J. J. Abrams will write the screenplay. Do you think they oculd find a role for the guy who plays Marshall in Alias?

I thought she did just find in Daredevil, considering it wasn't as big a role as it could have been.

Why stop there? Let's give Jack, Vaughan, Sloane & Will roles too..and then they can call it Alias: Elektra.

To be honest, I don't know if it was the script or the typecasting in my mind, but I didn't see that much of a difference between Jen's performance of Elektra vs her performance of Syd.

I don't think this is ever gonna come about. And I don't think anyone saw this coming, they never made a Catwoman movie after Batman Returns.

How did she survive?

IMO, this kind of cheapens the impact of her "death" at the end of DD.

Isn't Elektra sort of a two bit charactor, I mean thats like making a Rogue or Iron Man movie. Jennifer Garner? Eh? Anyone else tired of her? I really don't get the "hotness" factor either.

Now a movie they really need to make is a new Captain America movie. Have it take place when it did in the comics. That would be awsome.

Having Captain America take place in it's own time span would be like repeating the old movie.. It really wouldn't work to well.

I might be wrong but did CA take place in WWII? I thought it did and he was fighting Red Skull. I may be way off though. The 80's movie was in the 80's wasn't it?

Well, if they were going to be faithful to the comic, it'd be a group of ninjas called the Hand. But they've spit on it so far...

Movie or comic?

If you mean movie... They probably will use Frank Miller's story as one of Hand's magic, who knows....

Jennifer Garner Talks Elektra Movie
Monday, March 3, 2003 6:51 CST

The Chicago Sun-Times chatted with Daredevil star Jennifer Garner about her upcoming Elektra spin-off movie and her rising stardom...

Jennifer Garner says that the superhero business isn't always so super. Last week it was announced that she will get her own "Daredevil" spinoff movie called "Elektra." Combine that with a hit TV show and her marriage to Scott Foley, and Garner is one tired girl. "Sometimes it seems like I'm taking on a lot of things in my life, and yeah, I get tired, and being Elektra is painful thanks to the stunts, but I do love it," she says...

As for her "Elektra" movie, Garner says that even though her character supposedly died in "Daredevil," she'll do the spinoff. "Yeah, I did meet my demise sort of, but in the comic books, Elektra comes back and visits her own grave. She goes on."

Nope, Elektra is a major supporting character. She's on a slightly higher plane than the Black Widow(Daredevil's other girlfriend)

Silver Sable would be an example of a 2 bit character.
