No ROTK trailer to be attached to LOTR:TTT before it ends its run

Sad news indeed.
First SMG decides not to return to Buffy, then news that Eliza Dushku probably won't get her series, now this.
But then again, it's not like it needed it to make more money.

I'm not too disappointed, because before we know it a teaser will be out.

Plus, I think this time I'll do the opposite of the pre-TTT days and not read every little item and look at every little image that trickles out.

I wasn't planning on catching it anyway.

Like Jepthah, I'm staying spoiler free. Of course I know what will happen since I just finished reading LOTR for the second time, but I don't want to know what Jackson changed and to see as little footage as possible beforehand this time.

Same with Star Wars Episode 3. I knew way too much about the first 2 before seeing them.

Okay, I'll be the first to say it then. I think this sucks. I know I was looking forward to catching the preview of ROTK before TTT fell out of rotation.

Pretty disappointed, but I suppose I'll live.

Here's Jackson's responce to the rumor that there was to be a
trailer...(Found at aint-it-cool-news.com)
Hi Harry,

None of these stories have any truth.

As far as I'm aware the first ROTK trailer will hit cinemas about May or June.

We're not doing a ROTK trailer for the end of Two Towers like we did last year. The reason is that the TT extended DVD has been so complex this year, it would have taken too many resources away from trying to get that finished.

The FOTR extended cut had 35 extra CG shots - the TT extended cut has over 150. Weta are plowing through those, plus starting ROTK. We have a huge TT extended cut sound mix in a few weeks. It's all very complex and we deemed an early ROTK trailer as simply too much to take on this time around.

I am loving cutting ROTK! Very happy.

Cheers,

Peter J
He's NOT including a trailer for the right reasons IMO.

150 extra CG shots. Whoopy doo.

I mean, I can understand why that's a strain on WETA - and I'm all aglow about TTT:EE, but I hope no one is wetting their britches about more CGI.

Just buy Monsters Inc. - it's got waaaay more CGI in it.

[giggleswithgleelikelittleschoolgirl]hehehehehehehehe[/giggleswithgleelikelittleschoolgirl]
I think I know what I'm getting for Christmas from the SO! Same thing I got last year! kinda

He mentions that WETA is "starting" ROTK. I was under the impression that all or most of the SFX were already done.

Effects are done in post. the movies are not done yet. when FOTR was completed they started working on TTT effects and post production work. they didn't finish them all at once. they just shot them all at once. It willbe a lot of work to get it down for next christmas.. I can't wait.

Well, a lot of shots have CGI'd material composited in the background, not to mention that two major characters, Treebeard and Smeagol, are CGI creations. This isn't just masses of orcs and endless fly-bys of Barad Dur.

Already bought Monsters Inc. Wouldn't mind seeing 150 shots added to that either.

CGI in real movies can look very good if the company actually takes the time to make it look such. WETA has been doing so, other companies don't once the clock starts ticking. (Mummy Retruns anyone?)
