Would Transformers: The Movie do well as a midnight movie?

Every guy I speak with in my age range (25-30) fondly remembers seeing Transformers:The Movie in theaters or on video when they were a kid.
Furthermore, there seem to be many younger adults who have taken a liking to it through the new comics and DVD re-issues of the old series.

A lot of these people loved the flick and it seems to have enough of a cult following to merit midnight showings IMO, and perhaps a remastered ST (which could kick major arse if cranked!). However, I truly believe that a good turnout would rely heavily upon when and where they decided to do the showing. You couldn't just do it at a random theater, and it would have to be in a place where fans would be more in abundance than a small city.

If nothing else, feel free to quote the movie!

I love that movie, and know that me and at least 10 friends would see it a couple times in the theatre. Optimus Prime's death scene still gets me.

Think about it.

"Hey, fellow nerd #1! Doing anything Saturday night?"

- "Why no, fellow nerd #2! Whatever shall we do? Play Magic:The Gathering?"

"Nay, friend! Save that tradition for Sunday, they're playing TRANSFORMERS at the show!"

- "What? Surely you jest! I don't believe you!"

"Ha! You didn't believe me when I said that Greedo would shoot first either."

- "Very well! I'm game! Let's go!"

Could be the start of a new, if laughable and pathetic, tradition in midnight shows. Imagine the mass giggling at Spike's remark after the moonbase's destruction. It would sound like a swarm of locusts... (shudder)

Actually, I was thinking it would be a good showing for Friday nights. It would allow Saturday to remain open for other nerdly activities like taking in an umpteenth showing of Two Towers.

That wouldn't work either. Friday for FOTR, Sunday would be ROTK. I mean, any other way would be uncivilized. Philistine.

The problem with midnight movies is that they always take place on Friday or Saturday, maybe its the college student in me but I am completely wasted by about midnight on both friday and saturday, even if I wasn't it isn't really the time I want to go see a movie. But this movie playing at any time would warrent consideration, or I could just go drunk

FalconH10:actually, going drunk is part of the fun of a Midnight movie on the weekend. It makes people more likely to mark out at stuff like "The Touch" blasting and Spike cussing.

Seriously, I don't see this as being successful as a midnight movie, anywhere or anytime. Sorry!

Not much you can interact with this film unlike Rocky's cult following

Everyone between the ages of 15 and 30 has fond childhood memories of watching "Saved By The Bell"...yet you don't see SBTB on DVD.
