looks like a pretty good lineup...i've been wanting to see some of the older movies, but never can find them to rent. Will definately be checking out quite a few of these

Rypro 525 02-25-03 05:04 PM

I'll eventually post them all. Or you could just go to turnerclassicmovies.com and go to schedules and go to march to get it there.

I am really looking forward to seeing the 50's version of Moulin Rouge.

Awesome, thanks for the information!

ToddSm66 02-25-03 07:31 PM

I enjoyed this so much last year...I'm glad they decided to do it again this year. Definitely a good month to sit in front of the TV. Time to stock up on VHS tapes again.

Autotelik 02-25-03 11:06 PM

are these shown in widescreen? i don't have TCM, but if they are in ws, i'll find a friend who does and get him to record some for me.

tanman 02-25-03 11:11 PM

They are all without commercial interruption as well aren't they?

Iron Chef 02-25-03 11:15 PM

Movies will be displayed in their Original Aspect Ratio whether it is widescreen or fullscreen.

Yes

They are also unedited. Which is why they don't show Blazing Saddles until the wee hours of the morning.

ENDContra 02-26-03 12:20 AM

Theres definitely some Im gonna try to watch and/or record, one being Raging Bull since Ive never seen it and its OOP on DVD.

Off topic somewhat, but I managed to pick up a 10 pack of Maxell T-160 VHS tapes at Sams Club for 10.48 a few weeks ago. Thats a pretty good price, and you can fit most movies on one tape at SP :)

tanman 02-26-03 12:48 AM

which one of these should I absolutely not miss?

Also which are OOP?

I know Ben Hur, Grease are definately available

WiccanPagan 02-26-03 01:25 AM

damn wish i had cable now. do they do this every year?

The public enemy, top gun (maybe in oar of 235, chitty chitty bang bang, dvd is full frame.
Oh, yeah, and I can confirm that these movies are uncut since they played The Exorcist earlier this year, with all of the bad words. And they do do this every year.

marty888 02-26-03 08:57 AM

A suggestion if you are setting your VCR to record a movie: set it for the full time period allowed for the title. So if a movie that's only 1:40 is in a 2-hour time slot, go for the 2 full hours because they fill the remaining time with original trailers and vintage short subjects that are great fun!

MrN 02-26-03 11:10 AM

I've never seen Paisan or The four days of Naples but right after that are La Strada and Umberto D, two neo-realist classics.

Glad I have an 8 hour tape.

This is pretty much the only channel I watch every month!

jfoobar 03-01-03 01:51 AM

Made sticky for the month of March, as requested.

Nicholas Vargo 03-01-03 06:16 PM

Love TCM. Don't watch it all the time, but for a guy who is only 17 years old, I watch it more often than most my age. March is the month I usually watch TCM the most during the year, but as long as the movies they show that I like are shwn uncut, commercial-free, and OAR, I'm a happy camper.

I can't believe I missed "A Little Princess" this morning (Movies on TCM are shown in Pacific time only in California), which is a truly great movie, but I'm watching "American Graffiti" right now as I type this, and it's even better than that, so it makes up for this morning. Turner Classic Movies is simply the best channel on cable, period.

Rypro 525 03-01-03 08:35 PM

Great movie American Graphitti was but it was a little wierd seeing a young, Ron Howard, a young Richard Dryfuss and a young Harrison Ford.
A question, where does tcm get their prints from? The dvd or the laserdisc?

Rypro 525 03-01-03 09:18 PM

I read at htf that someone is complaining that tcm is editing their films, and from what I have seen so far, thats bull, I heard god damn many times during american graphiti and rocky.

pvehling 03-01-03 10:56 PM

I heard "f***" many times from Joe Pesci early on in Raging Bull.
