was that 'precious' guy on Lord of the rings real or computer animated?

just wandering, he looked pretty skinny

Thunderball 02-21-03 12:50 PM

It was Steve Buschemi

Luddy 02-21-03 12:50 PM

Gollum was real. Peter Jackson found him in New Zealand two years ago and trained him for the part.

PixyJunket 02-21-03 12:54 PM

Yup.. Steve Buscemi.. not too much makeup needed either. He was pretty good.

adamblast 02-21-03 12:56 PM

Yes, completely real. He had his eyes surgically embiggened.

Your use of 'embiggened' completely cracked me up! Add that to the list of funny words.

Sloth911 02-21-03 01:50 PM

embiggened
that is a perfectly crumulent word!

He is a real actor. He has a genetic disorder that enlarged his eyes and discolored his skin. He was also an extra in Die Hard III and he started his action career on General Hospital. He was also a roadie for Metallica.

woofman 02-21-03 02:16 PM

I thought he was a reject extra from 'Lord of the Blings'.

chesola 02-21-03 02:24 PM

Steve Buscemi took method acting to the extreme for this role. He lost over eighty pounds and ate nothing but raw fish for a year in order to prepare for the part.

taa455 02-21-03 02:29 PM

He is the distant cousin of Jar-Jar Binks.

This is the guy. I saw a special about the "Making of..." He did the voice and provieded all body and facial movements of Gollum. They edited him out and put Gollum in overtop of him, keeping all the facial expressions and body movements.

There was one part where he was saying that it's no different than wearing prostetics (the elf's ears).

Those weren't real elves and hobbits?

Of course they're real! I'm looking at a map of Middle-Earth right now and it clearly has Hobbiton on it!

You know, I auditioned for the role of Fro-Ho Baggins...

So you believe everything you read on the Internet?

HeftyP said he "saw" a special. I assume he means on television, because I saw a similar special, probably the same one. What does believing the internet have to do with it?

Oh stop it! You know he's CG! He doesn't look anywhere near photoreal. No CGI character does.

Sloth911 02-21-03 05:48 PM

Who was that actor that played ET?
