Comic book movies..

I need a complete list of ALL movies that were based on Comic book heros...especially the ones on DVD...

Thank you..

Good place to start

JestersTear 02-21-03 12:04 AM

OK, I'll bite... why?

tacomantt 02-21-03 12:10 AM

If you goto the movies over the next few years every single film will be based off of comic books. This is because Hollywood has not had an original idea in three decades and have remade every movie thrice over.

I imagine your list will soon fill the entire library of congress.

Why not? I enjoy those kinda flicks and want to buy/see as many of them as I can...

thanx..

But if you like those kinds of flicks, shouldn't you know what is out their already? :whofart:

Thingamajig 02-22-03 07:03 AM

Isn't it funny in a bunch of those comic book movies there is a lot of rooftop jumping? For example: Spider-Man, Daredevil, and The Crow.

Josh-da-man 02-22-03 11:17 AM

Aside from the obvious super-heroes:

"The Crow"
"Road to Perdition"
"The Mask"
"Time Cop"
"Judge Dredd"
"The Matrix" (Allegedly cribbed from Grant Morrison's "Invisibles")
"From Hell"
"League of Extraordinary Gentlemen"

A couple more not so obvious ones: Ghost World and the upcoming American Splendor.

A full list is hard to come up with - especially if you count Manga-based films.

mrhan 03-01-03 08:59 AM

two more------

Ichi the Killer
Crying Freeman

not all comic book movies are good, lets say off the top
of my head umm " fantastic four". this movie blew so much they
yanked it off the shelfs so quick that the only way you can see it
is if you get a bootleg.

caligulathegod 03-01-03 11:55 PM

That Fantastic Four was never meant to be released. it was made just so they could keep the license a little longer.

Ah the one movie everyone has at comic cons. Need it that bad? Just hit up the guy who has a table full of nothing but tapes. That is however if you have about 1-2 hours to kill, and you dont want to rip your eyes out of your sockets.

I think I had a thread similar to this recently, I'll see if I can find it...

Buying from bootleggers - bad...
Downloading from Kazaa (hypothetically ;) ) - priceless...

I actually found this movie to be fairly entertaining...

You might also add some of the titles that have to do with superheroes, even though they aren't based on real comics (AFAIK,) such as Mystery Men, Unbreakable, Blankman, Meteor Man, Greatest American Hero, Buckaroo Banzai?, etc.

Titles off the top of my head:
Superman 1-4 (plus countless earlier films)
Batman 1966
Batman series (1990s)
Punisher
Spidey
Daredevil
Electra
Hulk
X-Men
Jay & Silent Bob Strike Back :D
Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles I-III
Flash (TV movie)

Dr. DVD 03-02-03 02:07 PM

League of Extraordinary Gentlement is not in theaters yet.

While the second one is more or less a spoof on the first, try Swamp Thing and Return of Swamp Thing.

Some that I thought of that have not been mentioned.
Creepshow 1 & 2
Men in Black
Blade 1 & 2
Spawn
