Wolverine in XMen

Hello all. Having just listened to the commentary track on The new XMen DVD, Bryan Singer said that some one else played Wolverine for the first 1.5 months in filming, but had to leave. Does any one know who this is? Also, at the very end of the commentary, Bryan singer and his buddy say some one else approached him to play Dr. X and it would have been very interesting and different, but didnt want to say who that was, any idea who is was he was talking about??? Thanks alot

I believe that it was Dougray Scott who was originally asked to be Wolverine but he had to leave to go film Mission Impossible 2.

I think it's was the bad guy in MI2....not positive...

Dr. X -ohbfrank-

Yes it was Dougray Scott who had to pull out b/c of MI 2.... Considering what the role has done for Hugh Jackman's career, Id say D. Scott got the raw end of that deal... though comparing Scott's and Jackman's looks, I think Jackman was a better choice for the part.

Cant imagine who couldve played a better Dr. X... Patrick Stewart was practically born for that role.

Yeah, I couldnt figure out who would approach Singer about playing him. In the commentary, it is really interesting, I would have loved to known who it was. I wish he would have said

Prof. X! I don't think he's a doctor =|

Giantrobo 02-18-03 08:34 PM

Jackman IS Wolverine.

Iron_Giant 02-19-03 12:17 PM

Wolverine IS Jackman.

I'll bet it was someone totally off the wall and wrong for the part, Swartzenegger, Stallone, Michael Jackson.

B4Bishop 02-19-03 12:53 PM

I think that Ben Kingsley could have done Prof. X too. Thoughts?

B4Bishop 02-19-03 12:54 PM

and I think Billy Zane should have been Batman!

Jackman owns wolverine, amongst all the superhero films I've seen, Jackman-wolverine has been the best by far. The closest is probably Ahnold in Terminator.

That probably would have worked.

Somehow I feel Kingsley doesnt have that menacing aura about him. Patrick pulls off that "I'm ultra poweful and I can own you if I wanted" demeanor quite well. He is also more authoratative.

A four-years-later bump about an established star three movies deep into a role now?

As a kid growing up in the late 70's and thought if they ever made an X-Men movie; it would have been cool to have Yul Brynner play Prof. X. He looked exactly like the way Neal Adams and John Byrne use to illustrate Prof. X.

That doesn't make any sense since Arnold IS the Terminator and there wasn't any comic book version to compare the character to when the movie was released in 1984.

Christopher Reeve as Superman probably would have been a better example. :)

Vetoed. He mailed it in, in Bloodrayne (but then who didn't?).

Jackman was great as Wolverine. :)

Is there suppose to be a Wolverine movie coming soon? I thought I heard that Jackman signed on for the solo project.
