Another 2 Unoriginal Movies coming soon...

Before watching Daredevil, I was subjected to a preview for what promises to be an awful movie filled with overused jokes and tired situations.

Here's the basic idea: A black man/woman enters into uppercrust and stodgy white society, and soon has aging matrons bellowing out urban lingo. Variations on this have cropped up in movies for the last few years; the latest waste of film being "Black Knight" starring Martin Lawrence.

So, here I am, waiting for new ideas in film when a preview comes on for "Head of State" a movie starring Chris Rock that promises to be a complete copy of "Bulworth", with the ancient jokes above, included.

Just as I am remarking how LAME this idea is and how I can't believe it's being used AGAIN, a preview comes on for "Bringing Down the House" starring Queen Latifah and Steve Martin.

Guess what? It's the same **** all over again.

When will this vacuous and idiotic plotline finally leave the theaters????

As soon as white people accept that they are lame and learn to loosen up.

"Bringing Down the House" looks atrocious. Steve Martin is a funny guy, but I'd have to rack my brain to think of a good, funny comedy he's been in since "My Blue Heaven." (Bowfinger doesn't count, IMO.)

Get real. Hollywood is run by white people. That will never happen!

Why not???!??!!?!?! BOWFINGER is brilliant and Martin was mainly responsible for that movie being so ****ing great... I think that movie is easily one of Martin's best films...why discount it?

Anyhow, i've heard some good advanced buzz on Bringing Down the House, so I'll check it out...

I see them adding more and more minorities to the equation until you have a crazy ghetto black guy fighting crime with a crazy kung fu chinese guy.

The answer to the question is obvious though: when they are no longer profitable.

My Blue Heaven is the last classic that the he made that I remember, too. "Arugala - it's a veg-e-ta-ble."
God, how I love that movie, I wish they would give us a better version on disc.

What kind of trailers did you expect on a movie like daredevil, anyway?

I'm with MDC in bafflement over why Bowfinger doesn't count. As for his best film before that, I'd say LA Story, which was released a year after My Blue Heaven. It seems Steve Martin is best when he's working with material he wrote.

If you think "Head of State" is bad, then consider that an almost identical movie called "Mr. President" starring Chris Tucker is planned.

The premise: "A flamboyant young black man (Tucker) becomes President of the United States. High jinks and hilarity ensue. "

As to the Steve Martin/Queen Latifah, two more words...

I have confidence in Bringing Down the House.
O.K. Let me explain why.
Basically, studios and distributors go out of their way to promote a movie, let's say X2 will get alot of commercials, food chain deals, stuff like that. However, a movie like Shanghai Knights (havn't seen it) gets commercials. . .but something different with that. Advanced tickets are handed out to college guys (my brother is one of them). The movie looks stupid, the concept, everything. But the film is actually good (that's why they handed out advanced tickets), and that's why these advanced tickets are given. All of my brothers friends have said good things about the movie. . . to spread the word, if you will. They're doing the same with Bringing Down the House, so my brother says it's likely it will be a good film, but in concept it just looks atrocious. But when they hand out advanced tickets like this, the studio usually has confidence in the film, quality-wise. I don't know if this is completely true. . .but it makes sense to me.
