Warning for anyone who has not yet seen Seven

If there is anyone on the board who has not seen Seven (or knows the ending) I warn you not to watch TNT soon there are huge spoilers in the commercials. It says
Spoiler:
starring Brad Pitt, Morgan Freeman, and Kevin Spacey as it shows him in handcuffs and the prison uniform.

Darkfriend 02-15-03 05:32 PM

At least they didn't mention John C. McGinley :eyebrow:

kevin75 02-15-03 05:33 PM

yeah, i was noticing that as well and was really hacked that they spoiled it for everyone.

raKim 02-15-03 07:36 PM

If I didn't know that but wanted to know what was going on and clicked on the spoiler I would find out anyway!?!?

That's why it's in spoiler tags.

LBPound 02-15-03 08:11 PM

Not really that big a spoiler, considering the film's been out for over seven years now, and the actor playing the 'mystery' role has won two Oscars since it came out.

greatjedi 02-15-03 09:21 PM

I didn't know, and the spoiler tags were messed up when I first read the post, so I know now. :(

But the REAL ending is not spoiled, so still catch the flick. The ending blew me away.

If a movie relies on you not knowing something this minor, then it isn't a good movie. Certainly not worth missing a good NBA game over this.

MrKen 02-16-03 12:58 AM

Isn't this the same channel that showed
Spoiler:
Andy celebrating his escape from prison
during each commercial break of the Shawshank Redemption?

Correct me if I'm wrong, but wasn't that in the theatrical trailer for the movie?

It doesn't rely on it much at all. It does keep the villain mysterious throughout the first half or so, and when it was released, this actor wasn't advertised. So, all that's lost is the little sense of "ooh" surprise the viewer can get. The movie works all the same.

Hokeyboy 02-16-03 11:42 PM

Honestly, it's not THAT big of a deal. Really.

I mean, it would have been a lot worse if it said
Spoiler:
starring Brad Pitt, Morgan Freeman, and Gwyneth Paltrow as it shows her head in the box.

caligulathegod 02-18-03 08:06 PM

Come on. Is that really a spoiler anymore? What happens in a film is a spoiler but who stars in it is only a spoiler when it first comes out, not almost a decade later. Like The Crying Game. That ceased to be a spoiler when the lead got nominated for a particular Oscar catagory. Some things are not meant to be spoilers forever.

Venom 02-18-03 09:50 PM

wouldn't it only be a spoiler if you didn't know spacey was in the movie? obviously after a half an hour with no spacey and the movie being about cops and a killer, it's would be apparent to me that the remaining actor is the killer. well that's how i see it atleast. remember when the trailers for the sixth sense showed that bruce willis was in the movie, man that ruined it :)

The statute of limitations for spoilers shouldn't be more than a calendar year or so. If you have avoided seeing Fight Club, Usual Suspects, etc. w/out it being "spoiled" by now, kudos to you. But you Seven has been around for a long time. Should no one discuss the ending of Casablanca for fear of spoilers?

Iron Chef 02-19-03 11:43 AM

but what about
Spoiler:
GoodBurger
?
