Morvern Callar

Has anyone seen this second film with Lynn Ramsey (Ratcatcher). Kinda of a road movie with Samatha Morton. Her boyfriend commits suicide and then passes off his novel as her own all the while abandoning deep into herself not even telling anyone about her BF's fate.

Very well shot although the pacing put off some people but I loved it; anyone else?

I saw it a couple of weeks ago, and while I liked Morton and the cinematography, I initially thought the plot was too obscured.

I had to read the Ebert review and talk to someone who read the book to figure out the story.

I'll probably like the film more the next time, but my initial rating was a 6/10.

I saw it a couple of weeks ago. Thought it was very well done, a little meandering, but I think that fit with Morvern's personality. Loved the soundtrack, went out and bought it after seeing the film. Between this and Ratcatcher, Lynne Ramsey is definitely a filmmaker to keep an eye on. My favorite scene was when they got lost wandering around the wilderness in Spain and wound up getting into an argument.

I thought she shot the club scenes better than most. And with regards to a plot, I think that would be the wrong way to view this movie.

I was really impressed by Morvern Callar. It's a great portrait that allows a great deal of complexity without judgment. And Samantha Morton brings an opaqueness to Morvern that sharply complements Ramsey's fine direction.
