Trailer music - what are the most played tunes?
Saw the recent trailer for the upcoming Colin Firth film "What A Girl Wants" and I swear The La's - There She Goes seems to be a popular song for trailers.
Music wise: the theme from Rudy is used alot in trailers.
What other music/songs seem to be a staple for trailers?

Songs:
The Commitments, "Treat her right" and Booker T & The MG's "Green Onions" seemed to be perfect trailer music for every romantic/comedy/drama that came out during the past 8 years.

Last of the Mohicans is used often, but I think the winner would be James Horner's Aliens theme from the end of the movie.
For reference, check out www.soundtrack.net/trailers
Also, a question, can anyone tell me what music was used in the trailer for The Rocketeer?
Thanks.

One that is used all of the time is what I believe is called "The Other Side of Paradise"
It was used in the trailers for A Few Good Men, Roby Roy, and Rising Sun. Typically used for suspense/thrillers and always picks up when the good guy discovers what the bad guy is up to and ends with the line: " I'm going to stop you!" or "Not this time!" type dialogue.

Also I've heard the Bruce Lee Dragon soundtrack played on a few trailers, ie Forest Gump, The Truman Show.

Walking on Sunshine by Katrina & The Waves. You'd think it was the only song that's ever been written judging by the way they use in every comedy/chick romance film trailer.

Music from the Rock
Any currently trendy techno song (I love techno, just not the blatant bastardisation of it used to pimp off a movie where the target audience probably has never heard of the song and/or artist and just thinks it has a cool beat and goes well with explosions/slapstick/dancing/kissing/wedding planning/driving)

I think this song was first played for Unbreakable but now I hear it everywhere such as in K-19 Widowmaker and/or Blood Work. It made me mad the first time I heard it because at first I thought it was a trailer for Unbreakable 2 and I got excited for nothing, I didn't wanna see that trailer afterwards.

Several Who songs seem to turn up time and again ("Who Are You?", "Baba O'Riley", and the afore-mentioned "Won't Get Fooled Again").
I've noticed the score to A Few Good Men has been used in several trailers, and of course the ubiquitious Rudy music. And the "Waterworld" score. And Danny Elfman's awesome "Midnight Run" score has been used a lot, most recently in all the Monsters, Inc. trailers.

I've heard the main theme from Miller's Crossing used at least a few times, including in the trailers for Shining Through and for The Shawshank Redemption but I can't remember the others.
I've since learned that the theme is based on a very old Irish folk song, writer unknown, that is sometimes called Lament for Limerick.
Absolutely beautiful.
There's a very nice rendition on:
The Celtic Harp by The Chieftains

Nara from ES Posthumus is used on many trailers, most recently Unfaithful and Antwon Fisher. There are also 2 other ES Posthumus songs used on the trailers for Planet of the Apes (Tim Burton) and Spider-Man.
The original teaser trailer from Pearl Harbor uses a song from The Thin Red Line soundtrack--I've heard it in other places as well.
One of the songs from Plunkett and MacLane is used in several trailers as well, sometimes with a faint drumbeat, sometimes without (which is the original). The latest one that I can recall off the top of my head is from The Musketeer.
Speaking of Shawshank, the theme from that movie is used a lot as well.
