Daredevil vs. How to Lose a Guy:which will win this weekend?

Okay, I think it is a given that Daredevil will win the weekend B.O. take in the long run, but it faces some stiff competiton from both Oscar nominees with a jolt of momentum, and a romantic comedy that will no doubt come on strong as it is pretty much guaranteed the date crowds.

IMO, DD will be #1 for the weekend with How to Lose a Guy possibly being #1 for Friday alone.

Absolutely insane. DD will probably do 12-15 on Friday alone & the romantic thing will not come close to that & doubt it will break 12 millin the entire weekend.

I think DD will blow out all competition & probably open to 40-45 million. Unless it's amazing which I doubt it will be, it will probably have a huge drop off by next week. Whether anyone thinks it looks good or not, Spider-man was so insanely huge, just based on the fact that this is the first comic book super-hero movie to come out since & the built in fanbase gauranties a $30 million + opening.

Dude... with the insane amount of advertising DD is getting...... this is a no brainer. And the trailers actually look pretty good.

I'm predicting a spectacular opening. Somewhere btwn 50-60 million. What's the record opening for a February movie, btw?

I believe Hannibal scored well over $50 million a few years back. I'm cautiously calling for around $50 million for Daredevil, too. I've been a fan of the comics for 20+ years now and good early word is getting my hopes up...

i'm pretty sure that it is How to Lose a Guy... weren't all the ent. news sites reporting that it broke all records?!

here's a quote from Tuesday's StudioBrief over at IMDb:
"moviegoers paid more to see it last weekend than they have for any other debuting February release in history."

that seems a little ludicrous.. maybe they're talking about ticket prices, or something..

as for this weekend, DD by a LARGE margin! how many people take their s-o's to a movie on Valentine's Day?! i mean, what about the "nice, romantic" (read LOOOOONNNGGG) dinner?

DD takes in $54mil-ish. (i just bumped that up by $10 mil. i originally put $44... that's how well i think it will do..)

cheerio!

upon further research, they must have meant ticket prices because...

I think DD'll win the week, but will see NOTHING like Spiderman totals. DD is one of the much more obscure comic book characters.

DD will pull end around $55mil, but i dont think DD will pull spyder-man numbers in the long runs, since there are more spyder-man fanboys/grrls than DD fanboys/grrl.

Of course Daredevil will top the box office. Though I don't think the 50 plus million box office opening is really going to happen. While the advertising has been big, it is February and the hype on this ain't THAT big. At least that's the sense I've been getting. I'd guess 40 million would be about right. But who knows, might be a big surprise. It is a short movie, which always helps. But Daredevil is nowhere the name that Spiderman is, instead it's riding the wave of enthusiasm Spiderman created.
