The Scorpion King.

Some of my co-workers and I caught that movie when we were half drunk. The first half was cool. Then we sobered up, and realized what garbage it was.

While "sucked" is probably a little too strong of a sentiment, Far From Heaven proved to be a major disappointment for my wife and I.

ok, finally getting to download that great X-men 2 trailer has me flashing back to 1981 and one of my most anticipated movies ever.
it had opened in the rest of the world the year before and for some reason we were getting it a year later. i floated thru 8th grade in a near constant state of anticipation. my geek imagination overflowing with story possibilities. Then around April, a local department store chain started some promotion for the film- huge banners and cardboard stand-ups throughout the store, and a tv that played nothing but an endless loop of the trailer.
whenever we went to the mall, i would stand there mesmerized for an hour while my family shopped.

"Three Villans from Krypton
...Each of them with the same powers as Superman
...Each one dedicated to violence against mankind.
The World...
is on the brink of destruction
and Metropolis...
is in Ruins!"

what i didn't know was that "Ruins" actually meant people getting ice cream in the face, and sequin covered disco rollerskaters being blown around in a windstorm, and a small group of extras directed to take the whole thing as a joke - debris rains down on a guys car...is he scarred or worried? of course not, "this is gonna be good!".
when the characters in the story don't even take the events seriously...the film was full of tons of cheap laughs at the expense of consistency with the characters.
all the beauty, majesty, sentiment and wit of the first film was replaced by crass juvenile humour, and really awful process shots.
the fact John Williams didn't score it was emblamatic of the entire film, just a cheap, quick follow up for a non discriminating audience.

yes, i have no life

Reservoir Dogs
What a mediocre movie. I just don't see what's so special about it.
