Best superhero movie?

In honor of the year of the superhero movie: what is the finest superhero movie of all time? I would say Superman, but the final scene ruined it for me. I'm going with Spider-man. Raimi really framed the shots to make it look like a comic. Awesome. Post any I may have left out.

Superman - gotta love those pre-CGI effects (wire work, cranes, scaled models, hand painted sets, etc..). Not to mention one of my all time favorite scores.

Blade 2. it had the action of a comic book. no other movie besides spider-man has had that. daredevil looks like another true comic book adaptation, since it's ripped from frank miller's take on the character. superman was too PG'ish.

Because Spider-Man took a savage beating in the Unpopular Movie Opinions thread, I feel I must give it props here. The problem is that I haven't seen every movie on the list, but I will say Spidey was IMO more enjoyable than Blade, any of the Batmans, The Mask, and X-Men. Also The Crow.

I guess there are several reasons why Spider-Man worked so well for me: compelling hero (not as bland as Batman but not as invincible as Superman, and besides, the web-slinging was too cool for words), well-paced story, just the right amount of humor, good explanation of what makes our hero tick (I liked how he'll always have his uncle's death hanging over his head), Kirsten Dunst with red hair and a wet t-shirt. I'm also biased in favor of Peter Parker because I, too, am a nerd.

I could go on praising the movie all day, but you get the idea. Needless to say, even if the inevitable Spidey sequel is merely "more of the same, but with a new villain" I'll probably like it.

Based on the replies so far, I guess I better see Superman - I've caught bits and pieces on cable, but I don't think I ever sat down and watched the whole thing, commercial-free.

I give another vote to Superman. Superb casting (to this day, Christopher Reeves IS Superman), fantastic pre-CGI effects, one of John Williams' few really great scores, and a great marketing campaign.

Also, why is Blade II on there but not Batman Returns? Many people feel Batman Returns was better than the original Batman, and I think most people would agree that it's better than Blade II.

1. Superman
2. Batman and Batman Returns
2. Spiderman
4. Blade
Superman due to how its looks and when they did it. Batman and Spiderman tie for second with Blade a step behind them I enjoyed all four of them If BladeIII is really good then it will probably be the best superhero trilogy. I and II were really really good. Batman and Superman died with their third movie.

Hate to sound like a broken record but of course, it's not even in question for me:

SUPERMAN: THE MOVIE

There's just nothing wrong with it. Not even Otis. Kudos to Donner for releasing one of the most underrated DVDs out there.

Spider-man. Maybe not the greatest movie ever, but I feel it captured the superhero/ comic book feel. Being a huge Superman fan as a kid, the Movie never impressed me (even seeing it in the theaters). I thought even then that it was horribly miscast. Hackman (a great actor) was a horrible Luthor. Reeve never struck me as the right guy for Superman. Margot Kidder??? Lois Lane WAS NOT an ugly, bitchy, chain smoking skank.

Spiderman would have come damn close if not for one thing: the score. Danny Elfman cannot compose his way out of a paper bag, plain and simple. The rest of the movie rocked the house - but I was left with this sense of wanting. Oh for a dramatic blast of the horn section rolling into the ultra-heroic theme as we first see Spidey.

Instead we get the ham-fisted orchistrations of Elfman. It left me totaly cold.

That my friends was the only thing holding Spiderman back from true greatness.

I would say that it is a tie with Batman and Superman.

But I could only vote for one, so I voted for Batman.

Superman is my choice.

Second choice would be Batman.

Where is the choice for Conan the Barbarian??!!! This was a classic comic book movie.

I would rate Spider-man next.
