I'll second that!

I also get a kick out of the closing scene of Buckaroo Banzai.

There have been many great mentions already with Lion King, Beauty and the Beast, The Empire Strikes Back, and The Godfather.
But here are some of mine...the famous airplane scene in North by Northwest in the corn fields. In E.T. when Elliot is riding the bicycle in the air.
Moulin Rouge when Christian is singing to Satine "Your Song."
And the opening sequences of Halloween and Lord of the Rings: The Fellowship of Ring.

Lots of good stuff. Some things that haven't been mentioned:

Charlie Chaplin eating his boot in The Gold Rush.
Buster Keaton on the cowcatcher of his train, knocking debris off the rails in The General.
Pawning the family's blankets in The Bicycle Thief.
Omar Sharif's first appearance in Lawrence of Arabia.
The laser at Sean Connery's crotch in Goldfinger.
The opening of Once Upon A Time in the West.
The first chase scene, with the 100cc bike, the semi, and Arnie on a Harley, in T2.

I've sung the praises of this scene before, but nothing has ever floored me like the segment of Boogie Nights dealing with that fateful night when several of the characters' lives were touched by violence: Dirk Diggler the victim of "gay-bashing," Rollergirl and Jack just pulverizing a dude, and - most of all - Buck (Don Cheadle) being in the wrong place at the wrong time: the donut joint robbery. I was practically *pleading* with him, after a few gunshots had killed everyone else in the place, not to take the money. And he took the damn money!

Also, since I am a Star Wars geek (and despite the fact that I subscribe to the Orthodox View that Empire is the best of 'em), I totally dig the Luke/Vader/Emperor showdown in Jedi. Even though you can't see his face, I felt I knew exactly what was racing through Darth's mind as he watched his son get fried. Luckily, he redeemed himself and killed the Emperor. And even before that, Luke cutting off Vader's hand was damn cool too.

Chinatown: "My daughter, my sister, my daughter, my sister!"

The "Janet Leigh drugged up in a hotel room while Orson Welles does his dirty work" sequence from Touch of Evil.

Being John Malkovich: When Malkovich goes into his own portal.

The Maltese Falcon: Humphrey Bogart uses Peter Lorre's hand to punch Peter Lorre in the face.

The ending of Manhattan.

Wayne's World: When Wayne and Garth discuss Cassandra on the hood of the Mirthmobile.

I second the "In Dreams" part of Blue Velvet and would have to add the ending of The Elephant Man.

The ending of Aguirre, The Wrath of God.

And, while longer than 3 minutes, the end of 2001.

The best car chase ever put to film, Bullitt. The most exciting three seconds, the start of the chase when the GTO and Mustang spool up, Vrooom!

RAGING BULL

Before the fight with the French world-champion, Marcel Cerdan, DeNiro (as Jake LaMotta) makes his way from the dressing room with his entourage to the ring, past on-lookers.

All the while the music being used is from Pietro Mascagni's CALVERRIA RUSTICANA (I think) is swirling.

It may very well be the high point in LaMotta's boxing career, it's all downhill from here.

I always thought of that to be one of the more moving momements ever in cinema.

SEVEN SAMURAI

The final battle sequences, which actually stretch on for about 5 minutes are the most macho, brutal moments in the cinema. Not one drop of blood though...not that I recall. It's all in glorious black and white.

Creek Rat

Actually, the bad guys are driving a 1968 Dodge Charger and McQueen is driving a 1968 Mustang GT fastback.

Just felt like mentioning it. Great, great scene.

The Bridge (and stairs) of Khazad-Dum. Both versions, in FOTR and TTT.

Another 2001:ASO pick: "Open the pod bay door, HAL."

Roy Hobbs' last at-bat in The Natural.

Ripley discovering the nest until the shuttle escapes just before the terraformer reactor goes critical, in Aliens.

Saving Private Ryan - the last few minutes of the film with Tom Hanks "doing his thing."

The Matrix - The scene near the end where neo fights back after getting shot and beats the crap outta the agents.

The Shawshank Redemption - The speech by Red.

I know there are many more but I can't think right now hehe.

Absolutely the best ... the haunting zither music ,,, cobbelstone streets with streaks of light glistening off them .... and photography so breathtaking that it almost makes you wish every movie was in black and white. Definitely my favorite film moment, from one of my top 10 films.

The meeting between Clarence (Christian Slater) and Drexel "The Pimp" (Gary Oldman) in True Romance ranks pretty high on my list. Also, The home invasion scene in Henry: Portrait of A Serial Killer gets my vote for the most disturbing three minutes.

I second the fire-cracker/money-grabbing scene near the end of Boogie Nights. You could cut the tension with a knife!
