Favorites DVD Movies that need a sequel

With the recent announcement of Stargate UE, it got me thinking why didn't they ever have a Sequel? What other great movies deserved a sequel?

To be honest with the current trend of DVD re-issues and then re-issues on top of the re-issues i'd be happy if films were only ever released without the possibility of sequels, Trilogies or Quadrilogies as Fox would say

sequels are nothing more than a chance to screw up a masterpiece. there have been great 2nd efforts....but they are few. so I say...none for me.

godfather 2, empire strikes back, terminator 2, rocky 2 (imo), revenge of the nerds 2, polica academy 2. my opinion, others have their's, but there are some decent sequels. i am scared of sequels for classic movies as well, though (godfather 3, episode 1 & 2, some others that are scheduled). a movie that i would like a sequel to that would justify a sequel: starship troopers (great news about this one).

I want a third installment in the Conan series. Remember at the end of the first one when they showed Arnold as a King with a beard? He could still pull that off easily. I'd rather have that than another Terminator actually.

I'd LOVE to see a Dazed and Confused high school reunion type film. The only MEGA Starts to emerge are McConalhey and Affleck, and Affleck's character wouldn't even be quite so necessary to a sequel. But doing a 10 year anniversary/homecoming game, set in 1986, and revisiting these characters seems like such a wonderful risk. Granted, this kind of sequel is quite apt to bomb(More American Graffitti), but Linklater's world is so rich, vivid and complete, I'd love to see him tackle the task of revisiting these characters and material.

wait wait wait... A sequel based on the dvd? Well I know it brings new joy to the movie experience, but I never thought watching a good dvd would bring me to want a sequel to a movie.

In any case, I would say that Austin Powers showed in it's sequel that the power of dvd and home rentals really works as more folks saw the second in theater then did the first.

Still waiting for:

Buckaroo Banzai Against The World Crime League

Hey, it's only been a measly 18 years since the original. And according to the commentary, it's still gonna happen.

Yes, you said "DVD Movies" in your original title, but this really has nothing to do with DVDs. Moving to Movie Talk from Main.

The Two Towers desperately needs a sequel, I mean the movie didn't have a clear resolution .
