Once in a while, when I'm not being dragged upstairs by some beautiful vixen desperate to start some apres-movie action, I like to sit on the couch and watch the end credits scroll up my unfeasibly large TV. This usually happens if a) the DVD was especially moving, b) the DVD was especially boring and I'm trying to suck some value out of the experience by reading the credits, c) if I'm feeling especially lazy, or d) ... if the music is just fantastic.

In this case, a) and d) apply.

And so there I was, having survived Bkork's caterwauling through two hours of Dancer In The Dark, absolutely blown away by the intensity of the movie. The musical set pieces were almost unlistenable, but the rest of the film - with its naturalistic performances by some of my favourite actors - hit me hard. Bjork was .. just unbeleivable. She was real, and no wonder she's said she'll never act again after that. How could she ... ? ... after that denouement (which I will not give away).

And then the end credits music started. More Bjork, but a drink of cool, clear water after the frankly cringeworthy staged musical numbers of the movie.

After those offences to the ears, anything resembling a normal tune would have been a relief ... but 'A New World' not only has a tune - it has hook after hook after hook, and in context, following as it does a heart-wrenching two hour story, it delivers the final killer blow. I don't think I've ever heard such a beautiful, appropriate song after a film.

And I don't even like Bjork, normally. But in 'A New World', she soars.

So what's your favourite end credits music?? Yes, yes, yes ... I know ... it's probably not a new question, and no ... I didn't check this out by doing a Search. Sorry, forgive me, I'm just a Brit who enjoys his DVDs.

Paint it, Black is a great closing music song. I think it's used for a bunch of movies including: Full Metal Jacket and Devil's Advocate

I would have to go with The Empire Strikes Back. It is John WIlliams at his best. But all of the SW end credits are great.

I love the DVDA version of "What Would Brian Boitano Do?" followed by Michael McDonald singing Trey Parker's "Through The Eyes Of A Child" from South Park, BLU. Also, there is another short scene following the credits.

Having just rewatched Unforgiven this morning, I would have to say the end credit music is terrific. I also love Tangerine (or was it Feel Flows) at the end of Almost Famous. And as an underdog candidate, the music at the end of Bedazzled was pretty good.

Hey, where's the love for the credits of Se7en?

The derranged credits roll backwards while David Bowie's "Heart's Filthy Lesson" plays (one of the most sinister songs I have ever heard). Good stuff.
