A huge turnoff for and all my friends agree. So how come Hollywood doesn't seem to get the message? And how come so many actresses smoke? I remember reading somewhere that Julia Roberts smokes. How do you guys feel about it?
That by far has to be one of the most ridiculous things I've ever read, people are becoming such wimps its almost intollerable. What I want to know is if these people also offended by all sexual & violent acts commited in films or is just the smoking that gets to them? I just have trouble even trying to comprehend how it is that people get offended by the smoking of tobacco in movies. most films do try to portray some degree of realism, and like it or not in real life there are some people that smoke, are we going to start banning people from smoking outside of their homes alltogether so that they don't go and offend some militant anti-smoker. I smoke and I try to be considerate as possible about it, but crap like this makes me hope that these pricks choke on my second hand smoke. Let me live my life and I promise I won't tell you how to live yours.

And this is very interesting indeed, so is there a particular reason it only bothers you when actresses smoke? I would think if your going to be a bigot you could atleast be equal oppurtunity about it.

I find it a huge turnoff if a person smokes while performing oral sex. That's definitely negative point territory.

People smoke in real life - hence, people smoke in movies.

Its not up for you to decide how a fictional character created b y a writer should act!!

Smoking? Please. I really have to wonder what's wrong with you if you have to dig so deep to come up with a reason not to like a Julia Roberts film.

I remember the protect-the-children groups cited the inteview scene in Basic Instinct as harmfully pro-cigarettes. Two things...

1. What kind of sick, sadistic idiot would allow children to watch Basic Instinct, and

2. who would concentrate on the smoking in THAT scene...

In movies? Please.

I mean look what the former President of the United States did for cigars. They should be targeting him for that.

Sales went up! But for all the RIGHT reasons

Tony Soprano (James Gandolfini) smokes on The Sopranos....just makes him look even cooler! I don't know about real life though.

Also, wasn't "Sarah Michelle Gellar the smoker in I Know What You Did Last Summer"? I think I saw Jerry Seinfeld doing it too...Two people I really wouldn't expect that from.

...Not that there is anything wrong with that.

I bet there is no way this person could watch the X-Files. Although the actor that plays "Cancer Man" does not smoke and his Morleys were actually tea leaves.
