The world is officially over, American Idol movie in April
'From Justin to Kelly': The Movie!
January 17, 2003
Entertainment Tonight charted their rise through the cutthroat ranks of TV's "American Idol" -- so where are KELLY CLARKSON and JUSTIN GUARINI now? Together in Miami, of course, making their first movie!
"It's really cute," Kelly tells ET from the poolside set of their new flick 'From Justin to Kelly: The Rise of Two American Idols.' "The movie's kind of a 'Grease'-on-the-beach type of thing. It's a romantic comedy/musical."
After months on the road touring with the "American Idol" finalists, America's sweethearts are playing loose versions of themselves in what looks to be a modern-day 'Beach Blanket Bingo.' This week, the two splashed around and shot a song-and-dance number with a squad of bikini-ed back-up dancers at the tropical Venetian Pool in Miami.
"It's this great big dance number where I get pushed into the pool," Justin tells ET. "The movie is about two groups of friends who come down on vacation, and these two people who have this instant attraction to one another and about how they kind of miss."
So are there any real-life sparks between the two?
"People just refuse to believe that we are friends!" Justin says about Kelly.
'From Justin to Kelly' is directed by ROBERT ISCOVE ('She's All That') and produced by "Idol"'s SIMON FULLER. It's expected to open in theaters in April 2003.

I heard all those judges on Howard Stern yesterday and they said that the movie has nothing to do with American Idol officially. It just has those two people in.

Actually, it was announced in October (or at least that's when I read about it, so it could have been even earlier). That's why I laughed at etonline for their take about "breaking news."
I guess I should also laugh at them for refering to it as "entertainment."

Sounds good, actually. I'll check it out...I've always liked musicals, and this sounds like a nice throwback to those old "Beach Blanket" shows of the 60's.

Oooh, Tara Reid. What a crackwhore. My friend had to deliver groceries to her once, and lemme tell you what she ordered...not to mention that she was totally rude. Cigerettes, diet coke, and laxatives. Hmmmm...
Anyway, regarding this movie...well...I think I said everything I have to say about this movie.

LOL, to be honest, I don't think it will be that bad as everyone makes it out to be. Think about it, if someone told you John Travolta and Olivia Newton John were winners from a show like American Idol and made a movie musical called Grease, you all would ball. Now, by no means am I comparing Justin Guarini and Kelly Clarkson to them, (and Grease has merits on its own as a good film) but likely this film will be an enjoyable, fun, summer type musical/comedy film for younger audiences of today's generation, at least, that will be the aim, and I'm sure more or less it will get the job done.
Harsh crowd we have here. "I'm too cool to like crap like this....cause I watch sophisticated fancy schmancy movies...." I'm not targeting anyone at all here or calling anyone out...I just think people should wait and see the final product before acting like fanboys and talking smack just to talk smack. This is what gives internet discussion group members and fanboys a bad name.
I'm prepared to hear the flaming already, but I wouldn't be surprised.
