future sequels that will or won't work
i am more often than not adamantly against the release of sequels to movies that i think were well to begin with. i was curious about peoples' thoughts about some upcoming sequels as well. i listed some below, please post additions and i will edit this post to include them.

okay my take on the whole thing is avoid sequels whenever possible. the only ones on the list i am looking forward to are lotr and star wars (duh). aside from those 2 he only one i would go out of my way to watch is shanghai knights. many of the movies are in such preproduction that there is no idea what to expect, yet, but as it stands, my outlook is bleak.

Like most of you, I don't hold out much hope for prequels/sequels, but
I'll comment on a few..... Exorcist :The Beginning......could be interesting with Shrader's involvement. Seven -Horrible idea. Highly,highly doubtful Fincher would involve himself with crap like this (then again he's doing Mission Impossible 2 ...though he'll probably make the best film of the series).Freeman is turning into a slut. -ptth- Dumb and Dumberer-this is the Dumberest idea ever. No Carrey/Danielson, no want to see.... the original wasn't exactly a classic. Matrix Sequels- Hype aside, these should be interesting. Though the 'pop culture burn out' syndrome comes into play. Guaranteed Pure Crap: Chuck's Angels 2, Fast/Furious2, DDancing2.:thmbsdwn: X-Men 2...I'm thinking/hoping this may eclipse the first one. Episode3: Lucas has one final chance to deliver the goods....we can only hope it's appropriately 'dark' No cop-outs. ROTK:......I'm betting this will be superb. Just a hunch. -cracker- |

Hard to say since most of them, we haven't seen or heard anything about. Their respective marketing machine, director, cast...are not yet announced, but with time we will be able to judge them better. For now I predict something like...

Isn't Meet the Parents 2 in preproduction as Meet the Fockers? Seems that I read that somewhere. Can't wait if it's true, though.

no want to see.... the original wasn't exactly a classic. Who's Danielson? (Jeff Daniels maybe?) Anyway there has rarely been a case where the first movie wasn't better than the sequel. |

007 - halle berry's possible spin off - a bad idea that should not be made. put more effort into a really good bond movie instead.
bad boys 2 - looks decent, a good rental anyhow. barbershop 2 - could become another series of films like the "Friday" movies. Cheap to make, with enough celebrity appeal to carry it. bring it on again (direct to video) - don't know anything about the original. direct to video is not a good sign charlie's angels: full throttle - lame dirty dancing 2 - pointless cash-in dumb and dumberer - will not work without original cast exorcist: the begining - pointless to tie it to the exorist saga. Could just as easily start a new series of movies. the fast and the furious 2 - inevitable, will flop very hard. final destination 2 - why was the first one made? indiana jones 4 - unnecessary, and has the potential to taint the entire series. jeepers creepers 2 - lame. lara croft: tomb raider - the cradle of life - first one sucked, why make another? legally blonde 2: red white & blonde - easy cash-in sequel. lotr:rotk - not really a sequel, will be a classic. matrix: revolutions and reloaded - hoping for the best, but I think it'll fall flat. meet the parents 2 - how does this concept lend itself to a sequel? ocean's 12 - lame. pulp fiction 2 - impossible to make. Do something original instead. scary movie 3 - sure, why the hell not? get that money while you can. se7en 2 (eight?) - shouldn't be made. shanghai knights - Jackie Chan does not work in American movies. spy kids 3 - 2 looked semi-interesting as kids fare goes. Why not? I'd rather sit through this than a pokemon movie. star wars: ep 3 - the train wreck finally goes over the cliff. terminator 3 - Could be cool. hope so. Arnie is at his best playing a machine. the whole ten yards - pointless. x-men 2 - One of the few superhero franchises that will support a series of sequels. after doing some reading i think i may be more interested in x-men 2. other than that i am surprised at the originals that were bashed. meet the parents is rotfl funny.

I hope they'll make another Alien movie but not "Alien 5" I want a prequel like what was intended from the start.
The transportation of the Alien/weapon in an interplanetary war. When the space craft crashes hundreds of the aliens escape and killing off most of the crew of the ship (standard story) . The creatures that were commanding the ship would also be giants in comparison to Humans. The aliens would appear much smaller in comparison to the commanding creatures, and there would also be many more aliens to destroy. The aliens attacking I think would looking very cool if the were to swarm the commanding creatures like 'flies on excrement'. Also this could lead to the Alien Vs. Predator Movie by having the Commanding creatures battling a Planet of 'Predators' and taking their Alien/Weapon into the planet for battle. and aliens fight predators. I think they can both write themselves. I now realize I've gone a bit off topic with instead of just stating you need to Add Alien Vs. Predator to the list. give entire outlines to movies. |

I just want to say Superman 2 was as good or better than Superman 1. I am awaiting ROTK, the Matrix Sequels, Star Wars Episode 3, Meet the Fokkers, and X-2.

(don't know why i bought it, it looks cool?) dirty dancing 2 :down: too old for a sequel, and the original doesn't need one either. dumb and dumberer :down: for now at least. the first was damn funny, but this looks like it is missing 2 actors and 2 directors. exorcist: the begining :down: see dirty dancing the fast and the furious 2 maybe, but partially since i am into import car culture. but the pink car has to go. final destination 2 :down: original blew donkeys' testicles, and doesn't lend itself to a sequel. looks like the same thing with cruel intentions one and two. freddy vs. jason :up: only drawback is they took the actor playing jason out since englund was too short and he was more of a franchise actor. i hope jason wins. indiana jones 4 down older movie, older ford. possibility of tarnishing the glory that is the first three. jeepers creepers 2 down who the hell asked for this crap? good lord. jumanji 2 down original was good but it doesn't need a sequel, but i imagine the effects in this will be awesome. kung pow 2 -yack- read my comments in the kung pow thread. lara croft: tomb raider - the cradle of life down original sucked, but it is angelina jolie maybe if she shows some goods this time. ;) legally blonde 2: red white & blonde down i enjoied the original, but think reese witherspoon is arrogant now. and i don't like the way she treated kevin smith. greasy reece. lethal weapon 5 down actors are too old to do it correctly. they had to bring in a big cast to make 4 work, this looks like a bad one. lotr:rotk :drool: i am all over this and the extended edition. ;) matrix: revolutions and reloaded pass (yeah, you read that right). i was in favor of a sequel for these up until the point where i heard they were making 2 at a time (a la lotr), releasing them almost back to back, and aaliyah died :(. meet the parents 2 down original was funny but doesn't require a sequel. mission impossible 3 down didn't like the first 2 ocean's 12 not sure. same cast and director :up: but the script was intended for something else :down: we'll have to wait and see. oh yeah brad :drool: pulp fiction 2 down can't touch the original, don't bother trying rocky 6 down too old. and the stories are too alike. rush hour 3 :up: i am a fan of jackie in american film. good duo, hopefully we get another hot chick. and chris tucker ain't bad looking either. scary movie 3 not sure. spoofs are getting old. se7en 2 (eight?) down no sequel necessary. no brad or gwenith (duh). freeman is becoming a loser in his recent movie choices. seriously dude where's my car? not sure. the first was good for dumb laughs, maybe this one will be, too. but seriously the found it. shanghai knights :up: looks good from the trailers. spy kids 3 down i hate kids in movies (with few exceptions) star wars: ep 3 :up: shaky, but i am praying this saves the series from the horror of 1, and the lacking 2. terminator 3 not sure, but i like the girl terminator. true lies 2 down first was bad, and as stated arnie is best as a robot. under siege 3 down steven who? this guy is old and needs to be put in a home. maybe if they put dmx in this one. the whole ten yards down funny original, not leading to sequel. x-men 2 :up: like what i have seen so far. nightcraler looks awesome. xxx 2 down haven't seen the original, but would rather have kept it as one movie. i'd rather have vin acting than doing some action crap. vin in boiler room :drool: (movie and actor) ps imagine all my "down" comments as a :down: i was getting in trouble for too many images. |
