Will One Hour Photo get any recogniton come Oscar time?

This was one of my favorite movies of the year, It was terrifying yet you could sympathize with Cy, sort of like Frankenstein's Monster . I'm kind of disappointed in seeing all these top 10 lists from the web and few or none mention this wonderful gem. My thoughts, at the least noms for Best Screen Play and Best Actor for Robin Williams.

yeah, i loved it too--if all was fair in love and Oscar voting, this would get

Art Direction
Original Screenplay
Supporting Actress
and
Actor

nods, but won't--the only mention i saw of it was in the Entertainment Weekly Oscar prediction issue, with a Chicago-themed cover. Too bad that fall movies like this and Punch-Drunk Love, and thrillers like this and Frailty won't get nods, but remember, it's a popularity/promotion contest, although i wouldn't mind having one of my own.

Gaah.. no, I don't think so. I thought it was quite overrated. Cy was still too much of a 'freak' and the story had a linear progression. There were some good things about it, such as the art direction, but I don't think the film was exceptional.

In the end does it really matter? Unless you have a personal financial stake in the film all that really matters is YOU liked it. The Academy aren't arbiters of taste, in fact many of the films they celebrate and reward are awful.

I think Robin Williams deserves at the very least a Leading Actor nomination, but I get the feeling it's not going to happen. After all, it opened all the way back in August, which is like years ago for the voters. Something from the end of December will win all the non-technical awards I'm sure.

well, i never saw it but if he was somehow mentally challenged than there might be something with Robin getting a nom.

but... how strong is the best actor field? daniel day and jackie nick are shoe ins. i'm not sure, but i think there's just too many other choices to get robin in.
