Word! They are both very different movies, so it's apples and oranges!

This is off topic...but I remember in '96 some reviewer had written about Heat. He had written, that the shoot out scene was completely ridiculous because it was so unrealistic.
Then in '97. the almost exact thing happened. (North Hollywood).

I personally prefer Heat- I can't understand any of the ones who state that the characters are unneccesary. Every character is perfect in the movie.

Of course, this is all subjective, so it's impossible to change one's opinion :)

BTW...... Who agress with me that the editing and cinematography of Heat is better than LotR?

matome 01-07-03 02:41 PM

While LOTR is a great flick, if I had to pick between it and Heat for the desert island, LOTR would easily be the one floating in the ocean.

LBPound 01-07-03 03:07 PM

Lord of the Rings is probably a bit better, but I'd be cooler if I said Heat was the better!

Another film matchup I was thinking about was, what's better...Cool Runnings or The Game?

funkyryno 01-07-03 03:29 PM

Worst comparison thread ever.

Parcher 01-07-03 03:40 PM

Funkyryno, that comment makes me think you're imcompetent.

It's really quite simple: Which do you like better, Liquorice or winegums? Winter or Summer?

It is really even simpler: You just say which you liked the best.
They don't have to share similarity to be compared. Of course, similarity is also of subjectivity. One man may find the two movies very alike whilst another man might find them very different.

Not only is Heat better than LOTR, but there are easily 500 films that are better than both of them. Don't get me wrong, I love both films, but this thread seems to have the aire that these are the two best film ever or something.

Parcher 01-07-03 04:21 PM

Pants I agree with you.....but 500 films might be a slight exaggeration

Hokeyboy 01-07-03 04:36 PM

You should of said Leon The Professional.
:yack:

Average IMDB rating:

Heat 7.8

Lotr:Fotr 8.9

I know the IMDB ratings don't mean that much really (I mean come on, Memento is the 10th greatest movie of all time???) but I thought you might like to know the general publics opinion.

Parcher 01-08-03 06:45 AM

I usually don't care about the scoring system.....
Look at the ratings...
Heat was, by some, voted to 1 out of 10. Conclusion? The scores don't matter.

SeanValen 01-08-03 11:05 AM

If Pacino and De Niro were in Return of the King, I would choose that:D

ravan 01-10-03 09:57 AM

I for one could not stay awake during Heat.

LOTR forever!

Ginwen 01-10-03 10:24 AM

Weird comparison, but if I had to make it:

I thought there was one good scene in Heat. The rest of the movie I didn't really care for (although that one scene was good enough I finally got around to buying it a couple of weeks ago).

I liked pretty much all of LOTR (both movies) although I thought the mines dragged a bit.

So Fellowship by a landslide (even though I'm not one of those who thinks it's the greatest ever, or even the greatest of 2001).

Watch the personal attacks there. There's better ways to say that than calling someone incompetent. (At least spell incompetent right when you accuse someone of it, btw)

AsimL8 01-10-03 12:22 PM

Not even close. LotR all the way!

adamblast 01-10-03 01:01 PM

Would you rather find a turd in your ice cream or be electrocuted?
