Suggestions For Disturbing Movies
I just saw "Audition" the other night and couldn't get over how freaked I got, it was great! Then I found a whole slew of Japanese Horror flicks and never realized there was this whole culture going on!
Anyway to make a long story short...can anyone recommend some good fright/gore/disturbing flicks?! ie much like Audition, Henry Portrait of A Serial Killer, Requiem for a Dream etc.
Thanks!

Not really horror, but Battle Royale would be up there for shock factor.
Oh yeah, try Maniac as well. It is up there with Henry Portrait of a Serial Killer

Zombie Doom completely repulsed me. If you want endless gore, or desire to see a man's spine pulled out of his sphincter, check it out. Here's my review, btw
Also:
Se7en
Black Christmas

Visitor Q
It was directed by Takashi Miike (the same guy that directed Audition) and is easily 10 times more disturbing than Audition.
Aftermath
Directed by Nacho Cerda. This 30 minute Spanish short film destroyed me. I watch it yearly as a sort of cleansing process.

I'll go the more mainstream route and say Se7en. I would also throw in Stir of Echoes (it freaked out the people I watched it with, although I'm sure many would say it was comparably tame).

Ichi the Killer also directed by Miike
http://us.imdb.com/Title?0296042
Street Trash - The German dvd I believe its R0 is the only one out there right now
http://us.imdb.com/Title?0094057
or the classic Riki-OH http://us.imdb.com/Title?0102293
almost forgot...
Braindead aka "Dead Alive"
http://us.imdb.com/Title?0103873
and Bad Taste
http://us.imdb.com/Title?0092610
funny how the same guy (peter jackson) could direct both these 2 movies and the lord of the rings trilogy

American History X. (amazing flick. A must see)
Donnie Darko (I'm not sure if "disturbing" is a good word to describe this flick, but it is another must see IMO)
Fight Club.
I'll also 2nd Jacob's Ladder and Se7en.
None of these are really fright/gore movies(xcept maybe Jacob's Ladder), but they're all creepy/disturbing in there own ways.

for a real creepy feeling...you cant beat horror from japan. check out films in the Guinea Pig series like Flowers of Flesh and Blood or The Devils Experiment. maybe not so much creepy as brutal. then brutal to me IS creepy. also check out the jap All Night Long series, volumes 1 thru 3. the third one is a little twisted for sure. Evil Dead Trap is good also. may want to check out Nekromantik from Buttgereit.

My all-time favorite is Blue Velvet. It's the only movie that I know of that could both disturb you and crack you up at the same time with its weird characters and zingy dialogue.

Sort of disturbing but really creepy at times. I found it at my local Hollywood video.
