Who will rule the Christmas Day/weekend B.O.?

Basically, you've got Leo/Hanks/Spielberg vs. LOTR. I predict CMIYC to win for Christmas Day/night itself and a close battle for the top spot this weekend. While I love LOTR, I give the edge to CMIYC since it has the powerful trio attached to it and it will definitely be more mainstream in its appeal, not to mention the setting gives it a nostalgia factor.

Clearly The Two Towers. Catch Me If You Can will be popular, but not a huge blockbuster.

Yeah, I think The Two Towers won't have trouble winning. All these people are seeing it multiple times. It's turning me off to LOTR and invalidating whatever respectability the IMDb's Top 250 had.

I don't think Catch will even be close for the weekend as a whole.

Catch Me doesn't seem like a flick that people will rush out to right away... I know lots of people who are going as a Family to see LOTR over the next week, because it is such an event movie. I think Catch me will do some great numbers, and over the long run, will make a respectable amount of cash...it'll have good word of mouth and it's got the star power, not to mention a lot of advertising...but LOTR will probably beat it this week...

That said, I know that I am rushing out to see CATCH ME tomorrow night after Christmas Dinner. I can not wait to see this picture...it seems to me, that Spielberg is having a banner year, and hopefully this flick will complete the great 1-2 punch with Minority Report...

LOTR should take top honors, CATCH ME... will be very strong, and CHICAGO (in very limited theaters) will have the highest per-screen gross.

From the looks of it... I'd say Nemesis, Analyze That and The Hot Chick are doing a pretty good job of stinking it up...

oh, by B.O. you mean Box Office...

No question about it, Lord Of The Rings: The Two Towers will come out on top Christmas Day/Weekend.

LOTR. I went to see it on Christmas eve and the theater was still 3/4 full.

I saw CMIYC Christmas and TTT again the day after. While CMIYC was sold out, it looked like TTT was going stronger. I know both will do well in the long run!
