to be totally anal, which versions of The Two Towers, Cinema Paradiso and Blade Runner - do you prefer.

- Two Towers :EE in my opinion is vastly superior to the theatrical edit

- the theatrical cut of Cinema Paradiso (not the recent director's cut) is my prefered version of the film

- the European cut of Blade Runner to be my fave cut of the film.

care to elaborate?

wow, no one's mention Renoir's "The Rules of the Game"

I haven't seen it yet, but have read enough critics top film lists that this is always mentioned.

I actually agree with you on the Lord of the Rings (I prefer the EE's)

I also agree on Cinema Paradiso, as the longer version seems to be full with extra visuals and not necassary to the story itself.

In regards to Blade Runner, the director's cut, which is the only version I have seen.

Cheers

Not a top 10, however, it is a perfect 10. The reason is that I think the other films on my top 10 is better overall cinematic experiences than Rules of the Game.

Perhaps it's influence and impact have been dilluted by imitators, but I think not. Personally, I was hugely dissappointed in the film, as I read the same hype you did and the film did nothing for me. Not a bad movie by any means, but just a puzzle to me why its SO well thought of. It could be a case of the emperors new clothes. It wasn't wildly innovative as far as I can tell. Give me Le Grande Illusion any day.
