Bjork?! Two Towers?!
 

I did not sit through the credits, but I could have sworn the first song in the credits was by Bjork. Am I right, or was I having an auditory hallucination.

Seems an odd choice if it is true. At least Enya had that whole Celtic thing going for her.

I doubt it was bjork, though when I heard it, it reminded me of bjork.

I'm also pretty sure that it wasn't bjork, but it definitely got my attention - quite a beautiful voice and song.

Nope, that's another Icelandic singer on the track, Emiliana Torrini. Check out her outstanding debut album, Love in the Time of Science.

With the combination of music by Howard Shore (the composer of The Lord of the Rings scores), lyrics co-written by Fran Walsh (one of the screenwriters and Peter Jackson's wife) and Emiliana's heart-wrenching vocals, Gollum's Song perfectly captures the pity and dread of this twisted creature.

I did a double-take on that as well. Then I remember saying to my wife, "Nah, that's a Bjork wannabe."

Count me in as thinking it sounded like Bjork, too!

You know what I hope they close ROTK with?

Wow, I just assumed it was Bjork and hadn't thought about since.

I would literally shyte my pants if a Zeppelin song made it into the end credits of ROTK.

I read LOTR loooong before I ever began to appreciate classic rock (which happened somewhere towards the end of high school), but between the Battle of Evermore, Misty Mountain Hop, Ramble On, and the Gandalf liner / poster regarding Stairway, I was given a new medium to appreciate some themes and characters from the orignal story; Peter Jackson's visual trilogy is just the next step.

That, and it'd just be cool to hear that Misty Mountain Hop opening riff when the credits roll.

The song sucked, but not enough to have been Bjork.

No one appreciates swan couture and unintelligible shrieking anymore, I suppose...

Just as not many appreciate beautiful lyrics, experimentation, and singing that is in any way unconventional and doesn't sound like Celine Dion, Madonna or Mariah Carey.

I thought the song was pretty bad. The Enya song at the end of the first one was much much more appropriate.

Blind Guardian would be an interesting choice to do a song for the soundtrack, but it will never happen.

Personally, I feel "Stonehenge" by Spinal Tap would have been the most appropriate.

I've loved Gollum's Song since I first heard it on the CD... I think it totally fits with the mood of the film, and that character in particular.

I have the same attitude toward the song as I did to Enya's "May It Be," that it's OK, not essential.

I do like the fact that it's a kind of anti-"May It Be" in the thematic sense ;) -- if you play them back to back you may get what I mean.

I hope there is nothing but the more traditional Tolkien-inspired choral pieces at the end of ROTK, perhaps even in Elven tongue. I don't think any modern musical artist/singer with a mass-media profile could do such an epic ending justice.

I'd like to hear Lisa Gerard (Dead Can Dance) or Moira Brennan (Clannad) as possible singers. But I've been quite satisfied with the music and the songs of both LOTR movies. Could be worse, they could have gone the route of so many other action films with techno/hiphop/rock soundtracks like Scorpion King.

Maybe when Aragorn is coronated they can play "All Star" by Smashmouth -ptth-

Yeah, or "Heroes" by David Bowie.
